Where did you get this from mate?

I bought it second hand (and have since sold it on) but it's an INA part to let u fit an r32 throttle body

Chop Chop, get to the good bits!!

That's tomorrow's job ;-)

Were you at the crail revo day???

Yeh I was there. Don't think I got a chance to have a go against you. Clutch was feeling it later on so I stopped running

Such a shame when a nice car falls into the wrong hands but it's nice to see you've brought it back to how it should be

Wait til you see tomorrow's updates

So while the car was off the road for winter, I thought it was time for a few upgrades. My car at stage 2 was good but never quite right (i.e. it was slower than Johnlindsay's identical spec car :-()

So start of with a relentless V3

Got a new cam cover as part of the deal. The relentless needs a bit of porting work

And this would be as well going on the relentless :D

Beach Buggy Turbos '7+7' hybrid turbo

So we'll need some more fuel

Bosch 550's

And the start of the underbonnet shininess

I bought an AEB largeport head, and thought I would mock it up to see how it looked

Then I bought a nice new block

Complete with a couple more shiny bits :D

9.5:1 Pistons

Brute rods

New Rings

New oil pump and pickup

Then a fairy brought this to my house

So a bit more mocking up

Some of you may notice the lovely purple garage rug

Now back to my own build - as unfortunately that GT30 is destined for another LCR

A largeport head won;t be much use with a small port manifold.
So a huge thanks to Scott McMinn motorsport for knocking up a manifold in under 24 hours :funk:

And test fitted

This will be off for powdercoating soon, I need to get a wee bracket added to it first. Its a shame to hide that awesome welding but raw alloy looks too wrong in that position

Started to strip out the old engine (need all the ancillaries off it, after they're painted, polished or powdercoated ;))

Looks like I was fairly lucky

All in all, 2 cracked valves, cracked mani and cracked mani to turbo gasket. None of that could have been helping power output. Thats the downside of tuning a high mileage engine I guess

So now I have the majority of bits, It was time to get cracked on with building the engine

The observant will notice that I painted the block. What a horrible couple of days that was with a dremel to remove all the old paint and rust :(

The filter housing looks really bad in that photo. I assume its condensation. It was -3 or so that day

So thats where I'm up to.
I'm currently waiting on a batch of brackets back from powdercoating, and a few other bits and pieces arriving.
Plans are to have the engine fully built up over the next two weeks, and installed back into the car over the Xmas holidays. I'll hopefully keep it updated in future

WOW! Mega impressed. You not head wrapping or ceramic coating the manifold?

I haven't really decided yet. I'm told wrapping them isn;t a great idea, and depending who you believe, neither is ceramic coating. The coating compaines suggest its a great idea. A lot of tuners don;t as it holds the heat in the manifold rather than letting it escape.

If I could have it black ceramic coated, I'd probably think about it, just for the looks if nothing else

Small update for today.
All my bits are back from powdercoating. So new coolant hard pipe on

New s3 coolant temp housing (forge hoses won't work with the LCR one)

And all the coolant hoses connected.

Just waiting on a silicone blank for the hard pipe and I can start fitting the alternator etc back on

Was just browsing the Ibiza thread there and saw you scrapped so I had to nosey for a new thread.

Always nice to see a car being looked after and in this case very spoiled! Love it mate

Ive had the craving to rebuild a 20v recently and find something to put it in this thread may have just done terrible things lol
