I made an adapter loom, so I didnt cut the plug off the cars loom. I cant remember where I got the info from but the part numbers are
000 979 131 Repair wire 2 needed
893 971 993 adaptor plug for existing loom 1 needed
000 979 103 Repair wire 2 needed
3B0 972 706 W8 Light plug 1 needed
this then makes up a mini loom that plugs into your cars loom so you can remove the mod when you want!
For the W8 adaptor loom you need to look at each plug and the numbers that correspond to the wire slots.
Adaptor Socket > W8 Plug
3 > 4
2 > 5
1 > 3
1 wire runs down to fuse box for +ve feed

PM me and we will see.......
It is plug and play but you need to feed the long wire down to the light switch to attach to the dimmer switch. Easy to do tho, and you can just scotch lock it on!

you mean to say that you can't tell which wires to connect to from the pictures? lol....
I suppose I could have done a better job - but I just take the photo and move on :p
Would have done the vents if they weren't so expensive... but loved the w8!

yea I know. Will keep looking at breakers. Spent a fortune on bits for the car, so need to give the credit card a rest before attempting this. I have seen people make looms to fit bora vents in golfs so I will be trying to adapt this for S3 vents.

Ok when you have the plug out there are 2 similar colour wires (i think grey but then with different colour traces) at one end you will tell the right end because the other end has the brown earth as you can see in the pic. The wire you need is the 2nd one in, not the outer one.

Also when i did mine i didnt bother taking the fuse box out, i just pulled the plug through the light switch hole.

If your still struggling let me know.

Just trying to fit the W8 at the moment and a little confused about which wire is the dimmer wire?
Is it the blue/white wire which I should connect the new wire I threaded down from the centre?

thank you

Just had a look on mine, the wire is grey and blue so I think your on the correct one, its the 2nd wire in, the 1st wire in being an all grey one.

Hello again,

Just wanted to check to see if I have connected the 4 wires correctly?

Ok, if we start with the first wire, right at the top, do I wire this to the new dimmer wire?

Can you give me which colour of the original wires I should solder the 3rd, 4th and the 5th yellow wires to?

Thank you

Jonny

Finally got he light fitted today:funk:

I decided to connect the new plug to the existing wires with the scotch connectors, instead of soldering them on to each other, then if I wanted to put the original light unit back in, I can do so quickly:)

Here are some pictures,
