Just a quick question, i picked my car up from a garage and i cannot see that an oilc change has been recorded in a service manual.

The car has done 18k miles and i will be doing the oil change myself, will this void warrenty?

Thanks

As long as you use the correct/oem parts and oil etc. (keep the receipts as proof) it should not invalidate your warranty - see here.

Although not having had an oil change for 18k may invalidate the warranty.. it depends on the car/engine. Might be worth checking with the local dealership though - it may have been done but not stamped..

Thanks for the info, i would assum the car did have a service before i had it.
I have only had it for a week now, the previous owner was Avis car hire.
I do know that they look after their cars mechanical wise.

Was the car bought from a SEAT dealer?

Hire car companies usually only lease cars for manufacturers, the manufacturer normally retains onwership of the car thriugh that period (although registered keeper will be the hire car company).

As far as i was aware the work had to be done by a "professional" who can stamp the service book etc to keep it in its warranty. I'm not saying you cant do the work propperly, so please dont take offence :) I'm just wondering if in the eyes of the warranty company, servicing it yourself will keep it covered, or will it void it if not done by a garage.
