My 54 plate FR TDI has a habit of collecting water in the spare wheel well, my sisters 54 plate polo has the same problem. Any ideas what's the cause? Cheers for the help :)

Are both cars standard? you haven't changed the rear light clusters or anything, just thinking there maybe a seal that isn't in place correctly that's letting water in.

Both cars totally standard, neither with any accident history either.

A fair bit if left for a few months, I empty mine every few weeks now.

Very strange, only thing I can think then is maybe a split in the washer pipe and it's leaking into the boot, i'm sure somebody will come up with something else though.

is the carpet wet under the rear seats? and or rear footwells? rear seats wet at all?

im asking cos i had this problem with above symptoms in a mk4 golf. we spare wheel well had a litre of water in it lol.

i never found out what the cause was, i part ex'd it for the ibiza.

door seals? boot seals? seals around the air vents under the rear bumper? do you have a sunroof? if so there's a drain pipe that could be blocked

I'll check the rear seats and carpets when I've finished work. no sun roof either :p

If it didn't have vandal damage i'd be looking to part-ex it for something else, but gotta get that sorted first. Grrrr.
