I get water on all four of my sills, but never in the footwell. Can anyone advise please?

George, thats what I had, water on the sills all year after rain. After really heavy rain for 3 days here, it flowed into the rear footwell. Its the seals, you need to silicone them, as shown it seems to be a common fault.

I had the same thing - it's only a matter time till the 'puddles' worth of water that would collect on the sills starts to trickle over into the footwell.

Fix those seals!

Big Thanks

Been trying to stop water leaks for months on the drivers side and passenger footwell. Top advice and photos make it easy to find all the retainers - worked a treat. Bought sealing cord from SEAT though instead of using mastic - they know its a design fault and the foam seal perishes. You need to pull the sealing cord really thin before fitting though otherwise it is to thick to bolt the panel back on. Box of cord is £35, however you could do the whole 4 doors easily with half a box for about £17 if you get them to split it down- Absolute bargain toook about an hour and a half a door instead of £250 to get the dealer to do it - OUCH!!!!

Looks like a really useful guide that I'll be following very shortly.

One question though:

Q. The guide is for the two front doors. But what about leaks via the rear doors? Is that just a case of replacing the sealing, like andy3842 infers with the use of sealing cord?

TIA

Yes identical seals as the front doors.

Thanks.

The rear door panels don't appear to come apart like the front doors though; so the front doors need siliconing and then seals cleaning/replacing & holes unblocking. Whilst the rear doors just need seals replacing/cleaning?

Perhaps stupid questions, but I'm not that clued up with such things.

Yep, used this guide to seal all four doors. Great stuff

I didn't bother taking the metal door cage off though; far too much hassled imo. We just removed a few of the nuts and loosened the rest to allow us to get a line of silicone under the metal cage. Then tightened up and added more silicone around the edge.

Managed to break quite a few of the plastic clips though. Dave from SERE sorted me out a few though.

Its not a bad job to do, bit fiddly, but give yourself plenty of time, and as long as the weather is good!
