Our MOT equipment is ATL it has shock absorber testers, these weigh the 2 axles when you drive on them, thus giving you the weight to work out the brake efficiency.

Im MOT'ing my mk2 ibiza 16v tomorrow, completly standard apart from steels instead of the 16" alloys, ill post the weight if anyones intrested.

any quarry or big tips will have a weigh bridge, just go and ask....only a real misery guts would say no.
