I dunno, the standard ones seem more brittle than after market ones, which seem alot more rubbery and flexible. Maybe the standard ones arnt quite as grippy. Whatever the reason mine have been like this for around 6 months running peak 1.5bar boost and i've never had a problem with them.

I did originally start using cable ties but they soon went missing due to heat or me banging around in the engine bay knocking them off.

Yeah the original hoses dont seem that good although the metal clips seem quite strong?

I can't see any harm in using the supplied clips TBH. :)
