so, washed the car last night and with all the talk about damp / mouldy engine sound deadening I decided to take mine off to check.

It wasn't super soaked but had signs of mould and is starting to show signs of creasing in the middle.
So took it off, dried it in the sun today and brushed it clean.

My question is, can this just be left off or is there an issue with the heat coming off the motor or are there other concerns?

its supposed to stop water getting onto the engine/coil packs thanks to the bonnet scuttle that leaks


im running my car without the sound deadening but with the engine cover on

at some point im gna seal the scuttle and then take the engine cover off cos it looks cack

^^ Thats what I'm doing now. Got the engine cover without the sound deadening and I don't think it's any more noisy really.

I'm not that bothered buy the cover, but id rather know that the sound deadening hasn't sagged and is not sitting soaked and resting on the top of the motor and full of mould.

Cool. would have been better if you ended the video after reversing in that entrance at the end out of sight. Thats the first private road ive seen with public road signs and where the local authority collects the rubbish bins ha ha. Sounds great though
