Because I've got v3.4 but my BAP BAP BAP didn't work when I tried it, and I haven't fiddled with switching maps.. Infact I don't know if I'm even selected in Stage 2+ mode.. I'm assuming I am? Unless they've put stage 1,2 and 2+ on there??

Mmmm a 'bap off'sounds like my kinda partaay :)

Sounds like you should go test it out like i did!

I have absolutely no recall of changing the mode it was set on when I drove away from Richard Martins after it was mapped. And i know for a fact it was defo on S1, however i had never tried to hit the limiter.
Was only this weekend when it was pretty wet so couldnt get power down, which is probably why i didnt think it might not have been running the right map!

I just worked my way through the maps, and by the results i would say:
Mode 1 - S1 remap with added baps
Mode 2 - valet, i couldnt do over 4k and about 50mph
Mode 3 - stock premium fuel
Mode 4 - stock poverty fuel

Possibly the otherway for 3 and 4 but could easily tell they werent S1 or valet with my quick tests.

Only concern was an ESP warning which seemed to crop up after turning off the engine and turning on ignition again to change mode. If i turned it off a second time, everything was fine. Weird, maybe i was putting the ingnition on too quick after turning engine off and some sensor gets its pants in a bunch or something.

well my dealer set mine up as follows ;-

1) stock
2) 95 octane
3) 98-99 octane
4) Valet mode

I have the v3.4 apr stage 1 and I didn't even know about the baps until on here and other members mentioning it, and I found out last week ..and it scared me a bit when I heard it ..did it in 2nd gear ;)
I never touch the settings as I'm sure to **** up so mines on 98/99 fuel setting .

That is exactly what i was told the settings were by mine funny enough. However there was no mistaking that 1 blink per second was the 'full monty' S1 map with baps, and 2 blinks gave me limp mode performance levels so must be valet.
3 and 4 seemed quite similar so they have to be the stock 98 and 95 flavours.

But i still got no clue how it was changed in the first place!

This is how mine was set up.
They took me for a quick spin to show the difference between mode 3 & 4.

Haven't hit the rev limiter yet. Not really much chance up and down the A1 with the roadworks and average speed cameras they have now set up.

And still achieving the same mpg is a bonus.

Oh ffffffffff hang on a mo Ive just thought of something.

After you put the ignition on, select your mode - you have to turn the ignition off again and then start the engine.

I rekon I know whats wrong - I wasnt turning off the ignition after setting the mode, so I would have always been one mode behind what I thought I was running? Does that make sense to anyone?? The map I thought I had selected wasnt actually selected until I did my test and turned it off - which was why I thought my modes were all eff'd up.

I must be getting old.

How do you change it? I'm gonna have a go at lunch time

Check the switching programs bit mate.

yes I was reluctant to get a map coz of warranty ,I have 7 months left until it's out as got car from new .
But so pleased I got it, and listened to fellow members who had it ,and this Apr is brilliant tbh . Well I think it is,though never had one before so can't compare, but just what others say about other types .
And yes, the good thing is the mpg can be better with more torque as you need less throttle ;)
He took me out like you say ,in valet mode, then onto the scary stuff ...He did go a bit mad,but then suppose he was showing me how good it was,and when I had a drive, think I scared him, couldn't believe how much it wanted to just 'take off ':D

I think if you can't remember about settings, i.e. code 4 digit etc then get dealer to help out.
I remember my code ok, but not had to use it and I do find sticking to same fuel type like
Tesco momentum for me helps,as it gets used to that fuel type.

just spoke to wayne at awesome gti about the v3.4 map regarding the motorsport limiter
basically all ecu's arent compatible and like mine might need a 'custom' file or a reflash to enable it?
he's gonna speak with apr and send my details off-ecu number and vin to see if it can be done
not sure on cost wise also he said?maybe labour costs for putting on im not sure

Apparently mine has a password, and I've tried inputting it but I get nothing happen.. Annoying

Its gotta be something like 1234 or 0000 surely if they didnt tell you it. Be a bit harsh to let you ride off not knowing how to change your map. What happens if you can only get 95ron fuel or something and need to disable your S1 map?

I think Josh mentioned further back that some pre-FL ECUs don't support it. Hopefully there is a workaround / file / reflash for you that doesnt cost loads.

They told me it was 1212, and I've entered that and it still doesn't work

Actually the APR instruction book implies that ECU lockout is an optional extra.
Here's the full instruction book.
http://www.goapr.co.uk/support/dpp_emcs_instructions.pdf

I would make triple sure you are trying to change the modes correctly.

Ignition on and wait for all the other lights to go out, make sure the CEL light is lit constantly.
Hold in the lower button on the end of the cruise stalk (DONT LET IT OUT) and eventually the CEL should blink 1 time per second.
Keep the button pressed until its blinking sets of 3 blinks and only then release the button.
Turn off the ignition (the bit I was forgetting) and then start her up.

EDIT - didnt see your post above before I posted this - maybe check the full instruction book for doing the lock out code.
