Get this for a progression (I'm 38 and have only had a license for 5 years)....
Car #1 VW Polo (Mk 2) 1.1 L (cost me £80, yes eighty, dangerously poor brakes...)
Car #2 Toyota Corolla 1.3 (the dullest thing in the world ever, astonishingly lacking in any sort of character)
Car #3 54 LCR as a result of a drunken conversation. Test drove it the next day, handed over £10k on the spot.

The best decision I ever made.

Almost had a DC2 over the LCR, great little cars!!!

How long did you have it? would you have another? how did it compare to the DC5?

(sorry i love jap stuff, possibly a little too much lol)

qutie simply the DC2 and DC5 are incredible cars. yes there has been a lot of coverage in mag's over recent years and they are largely correct.
the DC2 is imho the best value for money track capable car you can buy for under £5k. i bought my first one with 144k miles and half a dozen trackdays on it, and i did 15k miles in a year and 2 trackdays and i only lifted the bonnet to chang oil.

no joking they can embarass and shame some serious machinery in the right hands/conditions and on track they are lovely to drive near the limit.

i got the DC5 which cosmetically is far superior to the DC2 but at nearly £11k its not £5-6k better than a DC2....

i swapped the DC5 for another DC2 AND a westfield! awesome.

also dont discount getting a good accord, they are superb and more comfortable.

on track i can honestly say there is nothing between a DC2, DC5, S2K, civic EP3 etc etc...all the type r's are the same at that pace....though i guess an S2k shoudl be better in teh right hands...

get one

PS. you dont even need to mod anything on a DC2, just buy a straight unmodified example and laugh you head off all the time, the Vtec buzz is superb after a 20 min session on track.

i do regret not getting a DC2, used to do a lot of track days with my MR2 turbo and without fail always used to get skinned alive by the DC2s.

few of my firends have had various DC2s, S2000s and Accord Type Rs so will have to own one!!

:D:D

cant beat the noise, mechanical bliss.

Dont get me wrong the LCR is a quick car, just doesnt feel that entertaining to drive compared to the likes of the type R etc.

your right all the way there mate, the DC2's 'ace in the back pocket' is its ability to carry speed thro corners, it doesnt need massive BHP or torque figures .....
those that havent experienced it simply dont get it.
its not the best allround car but its a bloody good daily hack and track car.

at a guess your MR2 turbo would have had nearly 100bhp more than the DC2 and been rwd should have been good. but as you say the DC2 skinned ya....class eh!

last rolling road the Mr2 made just shy of 280 with a very respectable 290ft torque, ohlins suspension, chargecooled etc, handled well and was a rocket, but the DC2s handling really is in another league. Have had a few laps as a passenger in a UK stock DC2 but never driven one :(
