What else do I need before a remap?

Hope to get my car remapped in the next few months, so far have Green filter cupra intake and strut brace, what else should I do before a remap?
Is it best to wait untill after a service as they rag the car when they do it? Is it best to lower the car before or after or is there anything else I should do as I've never done this to a car before. Any help appreciated cheers!!

What map are you going for?

I'd say just to get it done. Nothing is going to make a massive difference. Alot of maps are generic anyway, even some custom ones.

not much will need uprating really i drove for 3k miles with just the remap. on thing to maybe consider is breakes but i did this after i was running 236bhp so im not one to talk! but they make driving and using extra power bit easier and safer

Be prepared to uprate the clutch, depending on the condition of the current one. It might not last too long!

Cupra brakes on the front are worthwhile, don't bother with the rear - maybe only better pads.

Hi Gaz. The Tdi is a heavier car, brakes might be worthwhile. Depends on how you drive it though.

312mm brakes are a must on a mapped tdi IMO,

FMIC will be needed after winter due to heatsoak, and the standard poor smic

Then depending on how you drive and how many miles the car has done and who the mapper is, a new clutch would also be a good bet as you dont really want to drive around the torque or have it the torque lowered as you want as much power as possible.

New tyres would be good to aid traction, and also a full suspension kit to assist the extra power

Personally I'd get the brakes and the suspension sorted before adding more power. You don't *need* it, but it just makes life so much better and easier.

As the saying goes... "Power is nothing without control".

Thanks for responses I'm getting Formula 1 in Brighton to do it i think they do Custom Code remaps (sponser of this site) and only stage one remap as they say I shouldn't need to get new brakes for that stage. Plus I've only had a new set of discs and pads on a coupla months ago. The car is on about 29,000 miles at the mo.
Oh yeh i didn't mean they rag the car at a service I meant when they do the remap they hold it in all the gears and stuff don't they??
I will be getting uprates bushes thou as I've read how crap the standard ones are!

You don't need new brakes much in the way that you don't need more power, but it's just so much nicer. ;)

Cupra Bushes dont last all that long either. I'd be tempted by the poly ones, but may make things a bit harsh.

If I were you I would do the clutch and maybe put a full milltek system on the car, you can always do the brakes and suspension afterwards! :)

was thinking about exhaust but I know nothing about exhaust at all! I don't want to spend more than £300 on an exhaust and only want it to make the turbo hiss louder if possible and if it added any power that would be a bonus!

Mine is the full system and only notice extra volume when under full load above 2.5k rpm, but can hear turbo so much better, maybe the cat back system would suit your needs better??
