what have you done to your car today ?

Drove from Brighton to Cardiff yesterday and just outside of Brighton (literally five minutes down the road) the boost gauge pipe blew off. Of course, it's the part that's either under the scuttle or under the dash, so not a roadside repair, and now every time I accelerate, I get a hiss from my air vent.
Just my luck after all that time I spent chasing boost leaks to have a boost leak caused by the thing I installed to check for boost leaks...
Going to zip tie the f**k out of it when I get my hands on it.

Yup, I'm still alive, just lurking and planning mostly (sort of like Pinky and The Brain rolled into one, narf).
Had enough of reaching for the buttons for TCS and fuel filler (they were cable tied to the shifter cables) so I decided to try my hand at plastic fabrication. First try went spectacularly well right up to the point it went spectacularly wrong.
Version 2? Eh, not stellar, but it puts things where I want them and I can work on it another time.

Finally on holiday, so got to work on the boy today.
Been buffing the car to rid black paint of oxidisation, but so far not the best results. Gonna do a few more sessions tomorrow with the compound & then polish to see how it compares. Either way, it's definitely an improvement & so I took the boy out for a spirited drive. Once home, got the wine out and drank in the car listening my tunes.
A great holiday so far?

Tossed a coin last night to decide where to start looking for the boost gauge pipe that had popped off. It had been drizzling all day and I was knackered and wanted a sit down, so took the lower dash off and...
Right first time. The tube had come off the pressure sender thingy for the gauge.
Made sure the ******* wasn't coming off again anytime soon...
I fully expect the other bits under the scuttle that aren't zip-tied to pop off now...

Well my car doesn't really go out too much but when it does and if I park up, i park we'll away from those that can't park, my mum said have u caught your car I'm like no why, right on the corner so defo someone reverseing in or out, the ***** learn to drive or better yet to care for what you drive.

Other than a ding on one door, my car is in really good condition - until you get to the bumpers.

I want to get the bumpers resprayed, because the car looks a shed, but seriously, **** paying for damage I didn't even cause and when I ******* KNOW some arsehole is going to do exactly the same a week after getting it sprayed.

I think we’re all in the same boat. My car is in extremely good condition and every blemish, scratch, dent has never been inflicted by me. I’ve owned mine since 2006. It frustrating but an unfortunate reality of car ownership and pot luck to some extent. ?
It's like the broken window theory - if it's scratched and scuffed, people will do it more because they think it doesn't matter. That and the fact it's an old car, but not a classic car.
People are just crap, basically.

Just remembered, the poke pics I showed earlier, they're from me swapping from Goodyear Vector 4 Gen3s to Goodyear F1 Asy 6s. So how about a quick tyre review?
Came from Asy 5s, a good tyre that only dropped off in damp/wet conditions below 8°C.
Not entirely sure why I went for the Vector 4s, a good all season tyre but very unhappy if you load it up quickly, leading to some... interesting handling quirks (understeering as the tread falls over at sharp inputs). Be a bit more gentle and they do handle well enough (my guage is a roundabout I do regularly, on the Asy 5s, 40mph easy, Vector 4s, a few mph down but not much)
The Asymmetric 6s? Well, they are darty as hell compared to the Vectors, as in made a steering correction because potholes suck and it moved faster than I was expecting. Haven't pushed them hard yet (slightly concerned about arch contact) but definitely a handling improvement

Well, I don't like sponge bob brakes so I went and did a full four calipers bleeding. Hoped to have a hard brake pedal but still early to say so. I used a pressure bleeder. Do you know if I need to use VCDS to do a ABS bleeding?
Don't forget to bleed the master cylinder as well - it makes a massive difference, even though it's super fiddly to get to.
Can I have a show of hands - how many people actually have decent brake feel in their car, and did you still have that after bleeding them?

To be fair when ever I've bleed my brakes the old traditional method has always worked best even on this 1 and the pedal is sold and very positive when applied. We did have a pressure bleeder nothing like the one in your Pic @Battoussai urs looks fancy so went an did it the old way.
