My commute to work is err 24 miles.

10 of those are on the M48 (dead empty motorway)
10 of those are M4 (dead busy motorway)
and 2 of those are dual carriageway down to the motorway (also busy)

On the M48 I am able to drive at 70 solid, returns good mileage.

I get 55 going to work, and about 45-50 coming home, so i'd say 49~52 is a rough consumption.

When I started driving I had a full blown spreadsheet looking after consumption and costs etc. I'll have to make a new one.

Why buy DERV's for such sort mileages?

My commute is 10miles A roads, 40miles M62 @ 70, 10miles A roads.

Why buy DERV's? Cos petrols break all the time and cost a bomb to run, for me anyhow. Plus I have never had a diesel that has let me down, they hold their price, and f*ck me, my car is beautiful!!

Didnt mean to press a button, I do a lot of other miles also, plus sure once the wow factor has gone, it will return more economy!!

Happy days Andy.

Same for me ... 3 mile commute.

But my Passat has given a real average of 46mpg over 50K miles.

The Volvo T4 I had before averaged 29mpg over the same distance ... because I pay for my own fuel, the Passat's saved me £2600 in fuel alone, plus lower BIK tax ... and the real world performance is better than the Volvo :D
