Hi all...havnt posted here in a long time but at a bit of a crossroads with my Leon FR+ TDI...

I've had it since new in 2005, now with 77k miles, it was remapped from about 20k miles but nothing else modification wise apart from the usual S2000 aerial, green panel air filter and Fabia rear wiper.

I've been looking at trading for a LCR but can't find a good one here in N.Ireland.

My question is this...what can I do to mine to make me fall in love with it again??

The clutch has never been changed, it slips on high load the odd time but has done for the last 40k miles and its been easy to drive around it.
Would a clutch upgrade make a big difference to getting more power down on the road and what price are the full clutch kits and where is best to get it from?

I dont really have the cash to start doing crazy things like Bigger turbos, injectors etc if it's v expensive...

Is there any changes i could make to the interior? seats, headlining etc that would make it seem like a new car?!

I'm thinking getting the paint detailed would be a start as a few wee scuff marks I could also get sorted. Wheels etc could be refurbed...
Just wondering if i was to do that would I fall in love again?!

Had anyone else been in this situation and what did u do?!

Cheers

Rather than thinking what could you do to make you fall in love with it again, why dont you suss out the pet hates about the car and try to fix those first. are you now used to the power and it doesnt seem as powerful/quick? try upgrading some engine components for more grunt...

or is the paintwork a bit shabby?? send it to get the paint touched up and get a full detailing done on it for extra shine!

new wheels? these always transform the look of a car!

could try your hand at vinyl wrapping, will keep you busy for hours and most of the hours will be deciding what to cover next!

hope this helps Snoop

Thanks...yea a few pet hates would probably include getting an upgraded clutch so it never slips and don't have to drive around it. No juddering on heavy load would be nice!

Lol the clutch is your own fault  I made sure I changed the clutch when I had it remapped as I knew I wouldnt be able to use the map to its full potential.

Paint detail is a good one. Interior too. Shampoo, windows clean and new air freshener. I just love the car when its cleaned inside (its always clean inside !!)

Without spending too much, how about some carbon wrap, bee sting arial, aero wipers, rear wiper delete, debadge, HID's.... repaint your calipers..... loads you could do :roflmao:

there is a thread on here somewhere on cheap mods

i fitted a boost gauge and oil temp gauge freshens up the interior as i got the auto gauge ones from halfords , if i fancy a change i can change the colour of the dials !!

plus whats the tax in NI , as southern is mental prices when i went there recently

Good ideas there...I've had the car valeted, new air-freshener, new tyres, wheels aligned and already in starting to love it a lot more!

Thinking of ordering one of those Sachs clutches of eBay (£525) and maybe a couple of ARB's if anyone can give me a steer to what ones are best?

Also while I'm at my mechanics getting those fitted are there any other cheapish things that are worth doing while the car is in the air?

Do you have part numbers and prices etc and maybe a fitting guide for the gauges?

You mean car tax? Its same as mainland, £120/ yr for me

This one? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SEAT-LEON-1-9TDI-150-SACHS-FLYWHEEL-KEVLAR-CLUTCH-KIT-/260753222095

I thought about that too, but did some reading on the company, and it can go badly... just beware.

Wasn't a great example of an LCR that one...

It had no receipts for anything and he had basically made up a service history from a company that can't be traced. The car had no MOT and couldn't get it to my local mechanic who would have taken a look at it for me. The exhaust was rusted and didnt sit right as I mentioned on RMS.

Think if I get mine mint again with an uprated clutch il be happy....

Unless...I see a better LCR for sale!

Daz would say give to him for £2500 and youd be happy...

He's a joker!

Its a lovely car, id say your much better keeping it than getting an r. spend a bit and get the paint sorted and the clutch done and you'll prob be chuffed with it again, and if not you can always sell it on when its back to being mint

just look at halford web mate ,

autometer gauges

i bought my oil tept switch which is built into the sump plug and away to go

have a look in my readers ride should be pics in there somewhere or do a search lots have done this

gauges are about £20 quid each & temp switch was about the same from merlin motorsport
