Evening chaps/chapesses,

My neighbour has just bought himself a mk2 leon diesel sport reference and is well happy with it... even says it is better than his old Audi TT!!!! It's coming up to 3yrs old and he wants to take it to the stealers before the end of the warranty period.

What's the kind of stuff that seems to be common problems that need sorting? I'm not expecting a long list as they are spot on cars ;)

Cheers,
Dave

I'm in a similar position, my car is 2 years and 10 months.

I'm planning to take mine in to get the folding wing mirrors changed, the creaking/juddering is slowly getting worse.
I'm also going to get the dealer to look at the glovebox rattle for the 6th time, not expecting them to fix it though.

From experience:
Steamy windows caused by water leaking in
Rattling dashboard
Get an MOT done, this will highlight things you can't see (I had a CV gaitor go, would have been £120!)
Check for coolant loss, mine suffered and needed a new head.

I am coming up to the end of my warranty period. Are you saying that I should get my MOT done before the end and then go back to SEAT and get the work done on warranty? Will this work?

take it to your SEAT dealer for MOT... problem solved.

Always a good idea. I took the wife's Polo to the local VW garage for first MOT (they were only £4 more than the local garages anyway) and asked them to give it a once over as the warranty was due to expire in a week.

They didn't find anything mechanically wrong but did notice a couple of bits which:

a) I had not noticed
b) Did not know would be covered by the warranty anyway

They replaced all 4 alloy wheel centre caps as they were "milky" and fitted a new tailgate handle (primed and painted) as the old one had a bit of laquer coming off.

We've had the car for 2 years and hadn't noticed any of these. lol.

put them down for a gold star then [B)]

delivered a 53 golf to a local one for a parts warranty repair on a noisy clutch bearing (bought tps) all arranged and planned before hand even sending copies of invoice down and warranty forms etc

delivered back an hour later with paperwork and a £100 invoice for adjusted gearchange and noted gearbox bearing was noisy, funny that as it was what it was booked in for - duh!

rebooked in a week later was all sorted though but so frustrating trying to explain it all to the owner even as a friend
