What wheels you got on your MK4?

Are you thinking about lowering your car eventually?

215 on a 9 is not a massive amount believe it or not and its certainly not a silly/dangerous amount.

I think 215/40 will be fine and then 195/45 on the front. Also depends on the brand of tyre too. Toyo stretch nicely as do Nankangs but some do not strech that well.

I wouldn't go for a 225 rear as this is too big and will look a bit silly, unless you get a very low profile tyre.

What would I do without ya! Thanks for all this help matey, was already thinking 195/45 for the front, and ill go 215's on the back then :D

Yeah I will be lowering in time, just not anytime in the near future

Had the standard Sport alloys for the first year and a half or so:

Then bought these and had them on the car for 5 days:

Then I had these for a couple of years:

BBS RXii with colour coded centres which I loved.

Car is currently sitting like this:

Standard Sport alloys sanded back and sprayed black. They are a bit shabby but fine for using on the salty winter road!

did you go to a vag meet/show in hastings last year ? was called havoc gti i beleive im dam sure ive seen this car. if you did i spoke to you for a while about my plans to buy an ibiza you may not remember but im pretty sure i remember this car with the wheels in the third picture.

Yeah I did indeed go to the Havoc Mega Meet in Hastings in October. What a cool show that was! Was the last show I had those wheels for.

Don't remember speaking to anyone about an Ibiza, I remember someone saying they were going to do a VR6 conversion in a mk5 Polo.

Oh wait a minute! Were you sitting on a wall at the time while I was taking photos of a red Vento? You asked if i worked for magazine?

What made you go back to the sport alloys? I much prefered the other 2 wheel types ( personal taste ofc) I still think your car is very nice ;)

Edit: winter wheels?

It was just someone standing next to his car pretending it was his Al :cartman:

Yup, sold the BBS in December and the Keskins pic was from E28 2006! These are just a stop gap until my new wheels are done at the refurbers, hopefully tomorrow!

@Cupra.al:
It was my brothers Vento, he has just refitted his Keskin wheels (he bought some after seeing mine and offering them upto his car) and fitting some VR6 side skirts.

The black wheels, we literally sanded them back and then sprayed them with a halfords rattle can :D Came out far better than I had expected and as they were only designed to be used and abused during the winter, I'm not too concerned that they didn't get cleaned too often. If I get the money together, i will get them properly refurbed over the summer!

these wheels look ace, y u ditch them for stock alloys

I'd had them for 2 years and wanted something different (something a bit wider and bigger), plus the stock alloys are only for winter now to avoid other nice sets of alloys getting salted by the roads.

I have some new alloys which should, all being well, be on for Spring Festival.

Are those the wheels that came on some Bora V5's?

Kinda! The mk4 Golf/Bora had these as an optional extra in a 16x6.5 5x100 fitment.

The ones I had were 16x7 5x100 and were off a mk3 Golf GTi 20th Anniversary.

You can also get them in 4x100 15" (mk5 Polo GTi) and 16" (mk3 Golf cab).

Does anyone know if 7.5x17 rim with 215/40 tire is ok with MY-08 Cupra?

According to the local garage the standard 7x17 rim with 205/40 tire is already quite tight fit on the front (due inner wheel housing / brake cooling ducts).

The diameter of the new wheel is only 8mm larger than the stock, but I want to be sure before putting over 1k in new wheels.

I'm about to fit 7.5x17 rims to my Sport with a 205/40/17 tyre and these have an offset of ET32 and will fit without any problems and my car is lowered. If you are fitting them to your Cupra then there should be a problem.

Go for the 205/40/17 tyres though to keep the rolling radius of the wheel as close to standard as possible.

Will do then.
I just could have use that spare 1cm in width for more grip.
With the standard "cruise setting" the factory mounted Pirelli PZero Neros did not last too long when transferring 260whp to road :D
