what with the mk4 side skirts

I have a cupra and was wondering why the side skirts are half smooth and half rough and bubbley. I have never noticed it before but as you go under the car slightly the side skirts get rough and bubbley???

There not skirts, the mk4 doesnt come with side skirts, thats just the sill...

Yes, there the same as Cupra R. The bubbly rough bit, is to protect the front from stone chips!

the rougher bit is a stonechip gaurd, tougher than just paint, common on most cars.
