Whats happened to my power?

My Cupra went in for a new cat back exhaust the other day at main dealer - done under warranty as the old one had a hole in it.

When i picked the car up i noticed they had driven it as the mileage didn't add up (about 4 miles).

I hadn't turned my Revo stage 1 back to stock so was running performance settings.

Driving the car home i instantly noticed it didn't have the usual low down shove and felt more like the standard car i originally bought. I instantly thought they had re-flashed the ECU so i checked when i got home with the sps and Revo is still on there. The car doesn't feel like it did prior to the exhaust being done - its just not as responsive and punchy low down. It doesn't feel anywhere near as torquey in the higher gears either.

Could it be the warm weather we are having that is sapping the car? I wouldn't have thought it would make that much difference on short bursts on boost?

I'm now worried there could be something else wrong.....

If they reflash the ECU you won't be able to put Revo back on with the SPS. I had this issue when the main dealer updated my ECU software. I had to go back to the remapping agent to get the software reloaded.

I can't imagine the dealer would have let you leave with fault codes so I'd guess this is what may have happened.

I can't imagine the dealer would have let you leave with fault codes so I'd guess this is what may have happened.

Thing is i aquired the settings with the SPS when i got back home and they were there - B8T4 F9 - would the SPS not even work if they had done something with ECU?

I tried changing between stock tonight and then a performance setting and the SPS made all the neccesary beeps but still the performance didn't seem right :confused:

No, if they reflash the ECU, the Revo enabler is overwritten so although your SPS will beep and show the appropriate settings on your laptop/PC, nothing will change when you load up to the car.

If you have a boost gauge it is easy to tell as you can see what you are boosting to.

My guess is they have reloaded new software and overwritten your Revo code. The SPS does not carry the entire software upload, only component code which is enabled by further code embedded in the ECU. Once the Revo is overwritten it is effectively like being copy protected as your SPS can't hook up to anything.

I've got vagcom so i can check my boost requests, i bet you're right - the b*ggers.

Good job i'm getting stage 2+ loaded onto the car this Saturday then!!!

When mine when in for a replacement turbo they only flashed part of the ECU. Took it back to the agent who said they would need the car for best part of a day to sort out what they (the stealers) had done.

Sadly I cant lose the car for that amount of time. So my map is half and half, and drinks lots of juice. :(

Same thing happened to me . basically i asked Kev about it and the ecu takes agaes to re adapt again.
was the battery disconnected for any reason?.

Mine took about 50 miles to fully adapt back again.
