Unless you uprate/lower the suspension the handling will be still poor on your car with the 17's.

I have 16's but the car would look better with 17's and lowered so go with those!

and just think the tyre prices for next year will be hugely different compared 16's to 17's! im thinkin of going for 16's when i have saved up enough

pah 17's look good with a good drop on the suspension

think Ad Lav's is running 16's with an 80 mm drop

Also 16 tyres are noramlly dearer than 17's

205/40 17 is a very very common size these days

well ive put the 250 deposit on the 17s

total is £700...thats bk333 17" 7j alloys with yokohama parada 2 215 tyres, which ze man at ze shop said would work...so if they don't i can try again

i figure i could save £100 on ebay but the reassurance that it will work, and wont break my car is woprth the extra 100.

3 months time is a 30m drop with stiffer springs

he looked in a book and there were a spring set(saiod wouldnt need new shocks) which either drop 30mm or 45mm.

does anyone know what these are likely to be?

he quoted £180 for new spring+lowering....how does that sound for £ ? compared to £300 for coilovers and £700 for the wheels it sounds like heaven to me....

Yep as the man rosco says go for the coil overs. The lowering springs will just leave you with shot shocks after 15,000 miles or so.

the only trouble with coilovers is that i've read i can go to 18" rims with coily's....

if i was going to spend the £300 on it i'd want bigger rims

basically already bought them now!

also i dont want the ride to be *too* much teeth rattle...want a bit of smooth

Check out pics of rash's cupra and stockys old ibiza! They are both on 17's with coilovers and look great. 17's work best for the ibiza giving it the sporty manufacturer look instead of the boy racer image of stickin too large rims on a small hatch.

with the 7j's i have the option of going down to 205's if i want, so leaving my options open

you would need to take out inner arch covers and cut off the lip on the outer arch to get 18's to fit with 30mm springs mate.

dude dont waste the wheels and slam on 30mm springs...you literally will not notice the difference on the rear!

I run 9j rear rims (in 17's) and have my coilovers AS low as they will physically go! and its still too high for my liking!
