Which version of VAG-COM?

Which version of VAG-COM do i need to download? I am driving an '04 Leon Cupra Tdi and the excess of pollution light is lit and I need to diagnose the problem with out lining the pockets of my local Seat dealership.

AS I undertsand the USB cables which are available on ebay etc are for the 409.1 version, however on the Ross Tech website there are several versions available to download on this page.....

if you have a cable described above then you need 409.1

Will this free version diagnose the problem or do I need to splash the cash on the full version?

PS I'm skint hence me DIY'ing the problem instead of taking it to a garage.
