As subject really. I'm currently with the post office (they were cheapestish last year on current heap) and they refuse to let me upgrade to a Leon FR under my current policy - apprently 18" wheels and xenons are an unacceptable modification:wtf:. That means I have to take out a brand new policy and lose 8 months no claims. That's :censored:. Anyway, they've quoted me about £200 more expensive than anyone else.

Admiral are the cheapest so far. I have 2x SP30 (each was 3 points and £60 fine) :ban: from a couple of years back.

26, 3 years NCB (named driver on parents cars ftl) (should've been 4  (well, in september it would've been), and the above endoresements.

Of course it all depends on the driver, but was wondering if anyone has any recommendations (If anyone sort of resembles my circumstances).

hmm kinda overdid the emoticon things, sorry.

Both Hubby & I have modifications to our cars (we both have body kits), and we are both insured with Admiral. They were the cheapest by far.

So are factory fitted options counted as modifications? I haven't declared mine

So everyone (insurance companies) said. I didn't think they would be, only dealer options and the like... but with about £20k worth of car I didn't want to take any chances.

Oh i know what it was that kicked this off, Seat complimentary 7 day insurance expressly asked if it had any factory options and made it pretty clear that those did count as modifications in their eyes...

Last thing I want to happen is for them to turn around and say "well you've got so and so on there and it's not standard, so you're not getting any money from us". Which happened to someone I know. I think they contested it, but I never did find out the outcome.

Have emailed someone I know from other forums who works for (I think) NU. I'll report back what he says.

(This is the first car I've had that had anything other than standard poverty spec things on it).

Just insured mine with Admiral £195 fully comp! thats with 18's on it

not quite that old but feel it some days, as for being a nun, I used to be but managed to kick the habit!

NO!

The only items that are classified as modifications are non OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) components that have been fitted after production.

oops oh well I can't see the wheels making a big difference to the premium

Not disagreeing, but why are all the insurers i've spoken to (most of the major ones) telling me otherwise? :(

I'm with Noel Dazely, £350 fully comp and protected No Claims; main mods are Koni FSD/Eibach Pro suspension upgrade and 18" wheels.

currently with Adrian Flux, but going to contact Neil@Greenlight insurance due to my 'mods' mainstream companies dont understand.
