Hi all,

I've been doing some troubleshooting on my LCR and I believe I have a dodgey MAF.

....but my question is ...why did the ESP light come on when I unplugged it.? And not the Engine Mgt Light.?

Thanks

Sorry to invade the thread but this just made me remember when AwesomeGTI had troubles getting the power from my Remap they said my MAF was knackard but said that wasnt the problem, I presume they didnt change it as I wasnt charged for it so probably still knackard.

What problems would it cause

Mine is an intermittent issue. Car doesn't rev and no real power.... Basically, it's all over the place ...and no error codes on VAGCOM. Earlier today, I unplugged it and then plugged it back in and then the car was fine.!

the esp light comes on as the maf is an indicator of engine load (required for esp to work)
if it doesnt know what load the engine is under/torque/power created then esp cannot work

Strange, I have had no issues with my car, they didnt explain why it was knackard, just said it was, I figured I would have power issues if it was

Maybe they checked it with VAGCOM and it wasn't reading right.....

They said they checked it on something, cant really remember, really should have asked the question but having no issues I forgot all about it until your post. Prob be best just to change it, doesnt look a big job
