That Ebay auction is not a typical price, they tend to head for a few hundred pounds minimum. Add to that all the integration with wheel sensors and other parts of the car and you've got yourself a very expensive sat nav. And even if you do get it working, you're going to need to spend £100 on an updated map CD because the one that comes with the unit is horribly out of date!

And lastly, those USB devices aren't usually expensive themselves, although I can't see the price on the website?

I would really recommend against it.

What are you talking about integration with wheel sensors for?

These units are pretty much plug and play. Just plug your GPS antennae in and mount in the dash somewhere and you're good to go.

You will need a CD changer, ipod adapter or aux in adapter though unless you just want to listen to the radio while using navigation as the CD has to be in to use the navigation.

You can get the updated map CD's fairly cheap too if you look around.

I have been offered one for £150 which seems to be the going rate for them these days not a few hundred. These are old units not and not anything like the new columbus units etc.

The Toledo units use wheel speed for the best accuracy, the GPS antenna only goes so close. Don't forget you're talking about technology that is now 12 years old (and maybe more), back then GPS units just weren't as accurate as it is now. The reason I found out is that I was trying to access the TV function, but the unit also uses the wheel speed to know when to turn the TV off. Breaking the connection gave me access to the TV, but lost access to sat nav. Not that I miss it! :)

If you can point me in the direction of a 'fairly cheap' updated map that would be appreciated, I can't find one for less than the price of a new sat nav unit.

By the way, the slot on the front of the unit is for the navigation disc only, whether you were using the sat nav or not you'd still need a CD changer or similar.

Your last sentence pretty much sums it up though, they are very old and even at £150 are overpriced for what they are.

I know its an old unit just thought it would look one of a kind. Not seen one in a mk4 ibiza in the flesh before. I didn't think this mfd had the tv function, only the slightly different audi one from the 1999-2003 period

Here's the menu selection from mine;

The TV function takes a very specific type of signal which I've not managed to generate yet, but there must be matching video sources that can just be plugged in.

Don't get me wrong, I think putting something like that in your car would look pretty good. But you can get much better units out there for similar money and a lot less grief!

Ah. I never realised that they used the wheel speed sensors. Never come across that while I have been looking around the internet at these.

I think unless you can get one for a really cheap bargain price then don't bother spending the money. If nothing else it looks cooler than the standard CD player and cubby hole.

I find my current set-up of a bluetooth kit fitted and using sat-nav on my phone works very well and probably far better as a sat-nav than these old units.

I'd personally get a 3rd party one, there are some great GPS dual din headunits these days. My mate has a pioneer one and it looks awesome
