clone you can always wire it all up without an amp then if u want to add an amp into the system at a later date if ur not exactly happy with the speakers being run from the hu! and having the amp rattling about in the boot is a fire risk! needs to be at least not moving and not going anywere at anytime! im sure u wouldt want to see ur beeza going up in smoke because u havent fitted ur amp propperly just sitting there in the boot... all saying that u could always put it under the front seat...

I got a kenwood headunit, cheapy toxic amp and a inphase 8 or 10 inch sub, cant remember. audio sounds brillient with standard speakers :).

I would like to upgrade the front components, but really no need, the sub gives out all the bass, much improved.

Also connecting your mp3 is way better than cds to. :D

I use my N96 to pay music or a little memory stick :D.

Well perhaps i'll just fit speakers without the amp atm and if i want better/more out of the speakers i could install the amp as you say under the drivers seat (the tray) - which is a great idea btw!

Thing about not amping is i'm not sure it will be a whole lot better over the standard ones?

i suppose its still ontopic... what size are the rears..... and the fronts while im at it... 5 1/2?

16.5 fit just get the thinnest depth as that is the worry of the window glass hitting it.

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but does anyone know what the depth must be to avoid the window glass hitting it?

It depends on the speakers really. My speakers are 68mm mounting depth, and I have a 1" mdf spacer, and i reckon thats pretty close to the limit of window vs doorcard.

I think I should be fine then. I'm planning to make it out of mdf as well.

I've found some I want to buy, only there from the US. This wouldn't cause any problems with connectors or anything would it? Just to check...

I bought my speakers from the US also. No problems with connectors or anything, however, if you have problems with the speakers e.g. one is blown out of the box, its an absolute ball ache to try and get the problem sorted, and you'll end up paying twice for delivery, paying to send them back, and paying import tax twice :ban:

I speak from experience... :censored:

Glad some one agrees! Sorry forgot to mention you do need adapter as the standard ones are mounted in plastic, I got some from ebay.

just wondered which ones you bought off fleabay? cos i
can't be arsed with cutting mdf ones out. (again) thanks.

what speakers is it you're looking at?

I'm actually looking at complete Bose setups on ebay. I don't know an awful lot about audio and my dad has the bose setup in his RX-8 and it sounds incredible!

Is this a bad idea, would there be a better alternative? Just want the amazing clarity really.

Im attempting to fit comps up front atm.
its a pain.
cut 18mm and a 6mm round pieces (measured against the speaker) to find that the shape of the speaker hole in the door is more like 'D' shape, round but then cut off at the top (as there is a white plastic bit in the way)
