Not sure how to explain this.

Often when I get in my car, my wipers will judder very slightly and then stop. I can either 'fix' it by getting out and moving them manually with my hand and hoping it starts working again, or just by leaving the engine off for 20 minutes or so and coming back to the car and they work again (not ideal!)

The mechanic looked at it and said he thinks the motor is fine but the connections were dirty and causing the problems - he cleaned it all for £60 which I was happy with, and it was fine for about a week, but it's started again now!

Anything else I can try? Is it definitely not the motor as he said?

Thanks :(

haha exactly the same thing happened to me. used to always get my passanger to hang out the window and pull it up to get it working again (wasnt the safest of ideas). and when i was with someone of importance i.e. the girlfriend, id pray the wipers work first time lol...

its definately the motor.got that replaced and never had a problems since.

Aww damn it - sounds expensive! :)

Thanks guys, I'll look at getting a replacement asap

Are you sure the wiper arm spindles arent seizing up? Ive had this a few times on golfs and leons. It causes the motor to overheat which is maybe why yours start working when its left for a period. You need to take out the linkage disconnect the motor and make sue it all moves free.

Could well be - to be honest I used to have a lot of problems with it, but since the mechanic did strip it all down, clean it and put it back together (I think) I've only had even the slightest problem (ie juddering) just the once - the problem is that this once it completely stopped, which has made me paranoid again so I don't think it's fixed :(
