This looks like a really good alternative to putting in a cd changer...but i was wondering if anyone knew what is the maximum number of tracks you can put in one folder or does it just let you add an unlimited amount depending on the mass of your usb/sd card??????!!!!!!!!

unlimited tracks buddy

unlimited tracks buddy

Don't know about the iPod interface but the USB one doesn't allow more than 99 tracks per folder since that's the maximum number of tracks for the CDs.
Anyway, with 6 folders you get 594 tracks total plus if you got more than one USB stick like I do, it's pretty enough [and I listen to lots of music]

Pretty sure its unlimited on the iPod, we'll certainly when you use it in Disc 1 mode not too sure about when your using it to play playlists.

On another note the XCarLink doesn't charge the new 2G iPod Touch (ie the one with the volume buttons on the side).

Just displays the message, "Charging is not supported with this accessory" Something to do with Apple dropping support for 12v charging in the latest iPods.

Apparently there will be an adaptor available soon

i need to get 1 but its all cash :(

and to be honest the USB version is not even worth all that cash,,, it's a nice bit of kit and very useful but, at least mine, doesn't work that good,,, as they say, I'd buy another one if this one got stolen but the price is too high for what the thing really is,,,

what problems do you get with it?
the first week or so when i had mine, i got interference from my phone, but that corrected itself. the prices now are too high! but when i got mine, it was a lot cheaper.
just sold it because i got a dvd H/U fitted

no problem mate, glad its working fine! :) i must of got all the gremlins out of it.

its one of the best mods i did to my car. i bought that, sold the cd player, made my money back and never looked back!
i would highly recommend this to anyone.. usb pen.. sd/mmc cards.. ipod/mp3 players.. just perfect!

I can't go forward/rewind inside a single track, the cd shuffle doesn't work [only the track shuffle inside a single cd] and the sound doesn't start as soon as the track does meaning that when a track has a sudden beginning you hear it fade in a bit,,,

Also, sometimes it stops working for a while,,,

apart from that I like it pretty much but those little flaws don't make it worth all that money,,,

mine didn't fast forward either, but i wasn't too bothered about that to be honest.
i never used the cd shuffle, as i sorted the folders into genres, and only tended to play one genre at a time. i can see how this would be annoying though.

the xcarlink is worth around 50-60 i reckon, but nothing more

:) ordered an xcarlink ipod adapter version after discovering it here, thanks guys

bit lost with the installation (8pin ISO version) I have a seat ibiza 1.4S (2001), Is the CD changer cable (already fitted to the radio) the green one?
also it says to use the grounding cables (2 different circular metal attachments - from the xcarlink adapter) on the website it says connect it to the body of the radio, so do i just tape both to any metal part of the radio system?

sorry for the silly Q's, thanks !

when you take the radio out.. you'll see a metal screw sticking out of the back, put the ground cables around this, i then found a small bolt to go on to the end of it to secure it.

when it comes to disconnecting the cd player.. theres a connection into the back of the radio, 3 different colours. disconnect the blue one (cd player) plug the xcarlink in, and then plug the blue cd player connection into the xcarlink.. when you dont have a usb/ipod connected, you can then use the cd player still :)

you get me??

thnx for quick reply, yep makes sense, just to clarify the 2 ground cables are attached to the same metal screw?
