...... only pay the price difference (146 euros).

'kin hell, that's only about 100 quid. Any chance you can get the part numbers so I can see if the lovely chaps at Amethyst will be able to sort something?

prc, When you say "HID", it this just new bulbs, or complete projector lenses with Gas Discharge?? i.e, like Audi A6...

I would guess it's the full deal as prc had an aftermarket Xenon conversion fitted so he's not remove that just to go back to bulbs. I wonder if we can get it done over here soon???? I love Xenons. :)

Arse, I've just thought that I wont have headlight washers on the Leon..... :(

Neil,
The real thing!! Haven't seen them so I'm not sure if there Projector lenses or reflector based (like the Renault Lagunas).

I'll try getting a part # for it. I've still got a 2 month wait for the headlights.

Andy,

The 146Euros is the price for the new replacement HID headlamp -
The replacement cost for the normal headlamps (which need to be changed under warranty).

Xenon

Hello everybody.
I already have the xenon head lamps they are in fact HID but they are the bulbs with the gas inside you just replace them for the original bulbs and conect all the kit that comes with them.... Later I will send you a picture for you to see how it looks. Its real xenon not just the supper white light we all know about.
The part number is H7 they cost about $600 american dollars.
write ya all later.

Sorry, A little bit ignorant on this subject, are the bulbs that amethyst advertise on here not Xenon or do you need extra kit to install them in to a cupra.....

Go hear for lighting information and general lighting FAQs.

http://faq.auto.light.tripod.com/general-faq.htm
or
http://www.autolamps-online.com/gasdischarge/faq1to5centre.htm
But in Short:
The bulbs that amethyst advertise are normal bulbs with a bit of XENON gas and a filter that produces whiter light than a normal bulb.
True HID/XENON headlights are based on the gas discharge principle , where an arc of light is created between two electrodes in a glass tube filled with metal salts and inert gases (like the light at your favorite football stadium).
Besides the bulb itself, HID need a balast to ignite (they need something like 20,000Volts) and control the voltage & current draw + permanent shutdown in case of a crash.

They are Xenon, but not Gas Discharge, which is what you get on Mercs, Audis, Vauxhall Omegas etc etc. They are the VERY bright blue/white light that comes from a very small projector lense.

Whoops, just read prc's post...it says what i'vbe said, but in more detail....

Hi guys,
Concerning the Xenon Kit...on the Seat offical web site, on the Leon Sport Web, there is the Xenon kit offered, but under no price or which dealers who have it?
Any Ideas? if not.. is the Philips a good replacement?

Well philips makes some great lighting. As far as discharge lamps (true HID) I think their #1 in the OEM market. The autolamps kit I use is 100% philips as well. No problems so far.
As far as halogens are conserned, philips is top rated as well. Their vision + bulb came in 1st in a test I read. A close 2nd where the Osram cool white bulbs.
Mind you that these are normal halogen bulbs, not the blue/white ones.
