am in the position where i am going to be ordering a brand new fr tdi soon, i know i am getting the luxury pack 2 but was thinking about the xenons as well

i do quite a bit of night driving, but for the price i am not sure if they are worth it. i got philip blue vision bulbs for my mk2 and they improved visibility at night, and i know that is on an older headlight design so theoretically the mk4 headlights should have better visibility on normal bulbs than i am used to

at the end of the day, are they worth the 700 quid option or should i just do similar and get better bulbs on the car after purchasing?

An after market kit would be loads cheaper but you need some kind of self-levelling business and washers and the correct beam pattern to be Legal.

Nathanio seems to be very knowledgeable in these HID matters.

Do a search on HID or Xenons theres a few comparison pics and comments etc

no you don't.,,,
its a bit of a grey area. you don't need levellers or washers on retrofit xenons.

My mondeo passed its MOT fine with Aftermarket Xenons

do the fr xenons fit direct onto the cupra. or can it not be done. or does it need modifications id it can be done
why do they put xenons onto the fr but not the cupra????

the cupra doesn't have the xenon on it's extra's due to the engine compartment having limited room for the ballasts and something to do with the fitment of the headlight washers.

I've had Xenon's fitted aftermarket (have the lux pack with the washers) and I can say if they are as good as mine or better then they are WELL worth the £695. Mine were £250 (aftermarket) and they have improved HUGELY over standard halogen. The headlights are actually pretty good standard but with Xenon they are well better, and also adds a bit of style on dull days/nightime!!! :cartman:

See I would like them but the MOT implications scare me so Im not bothering especially not on a single headlamp.

You're right on the headlight washer front, but not on the limited room in the engine bay. Basically on the Cupra the pipes for the intercooler are in the way of where the washers would be hence not being able to have them.

hey fr man mave you had the whole option pac k fitted after market (how they instal the washer jets?) and how much?

Andy

Id say get them in the lux pack or as a extra, I have after market ones and I think they look great, clear looking and makes every other car on the road look nicer :)

I had the OE Xenons on mine, yes they are expensive, but worth every penny.

Once you've had them, driving a car without Xenons is like having glow-worms in jamjars for headlights.

T. Spark, where did you get the aftermarket xenons from? I guess you have projector headlights also?

I actually got them off here, was a group buy about a year and a half ago... im sure a search would bring it up

They do look nice on the car, just make sure you clean them often to make sure the light doesnt reflect and blind people and your'll be fine

HAHA, that is sooooo the best way of saying how good they are!

the lux pack is available via factory order only cannot be aftermarket fitted without huge expense no doubt!

mrcoyote : i thought it was something to do with the engine compartment, oh well wasn't too far wrong ! lol thanks for the correction

Can anybody point me towards a company that sells projector style headlights for the twin style standard headlights, ie. one light for dipped beam and the other for the main beam.

Cheers
