I went for the easy option,
04-12-200708-51-011.jpg

I bought 2 sets of them one for the bizza and one for my astra elite company car that should have come with factory ones :censored:, they are compatible with the vauxhall can-bus system so no bulb failure light comes on

as you can see the red and black plug into where the original bulb would have gone, uprtate the fuse, mount the ballasts and Robert's your mother's borther

well easy but I think SWMBO wants me to wait till christmas day to fit them :-o

BTW there are 2 in the box :p

LoL - Thats laughable. You've clearly never seen a car with HID's or your slightly exagerating ;)

Replacement bulbs aren't going to look the same as Xenons, but I'm not kidding: I got them too and these Philips Xtremes are about as bright - and I'm NOT kidding :p

I previously had a Clio 172 with standard Xenons and they were great. But I've fitted Philips Xtreme 80% brighter dipped beam in the Ibiza and they're superb: very bright, good spread of light. The only difference with them and xenons is the colour: they're very white but certainly no blue/purple tinge (which is why I guess I lot of people buy xenons in the first place). Only £24/pair too.

I'd never buy aftermarket xenons as I had major problems with the factory kit on my Clio - too expensive to fix if they go wrong, I'd rather stick to "normal" lighting LOL.

But each to their own ;)

this is why you buy the saftey harnes so nothing goes wrong :) ^^^^

if you dont mind just fitting the xennon kit straight on it will take 2 seconds to fit them and about 20 mins tidying up alll the wires ect very easy!

I've had my Xenon HID Kit kitted for about 2 weeks now on my Ibiza.
Bought the Kit from a specialist, who also fitted the kit professionally too (at a price tho).

Have to say the transformation is amazing. The light is a piercing electric blue colour, that is so much brighter than standard or £20 Halogens. :bleh:

Driving along the motorway, the relection of my HID's can be seen brighter than other headlights, for example when closing in behind the rear of a fairly clean vehicle.

When you are driving along the road, and the cars are streaming in the opposite direction with their whitey/yellow headlights - then suddenly out of the haze comes this car with piercing electric Blue twinkly headlights - that's me that is! :D :)

Definately worth the money IMO - also makes thinks alot safer driving in country lanes too!

Im going to get a kit fitted soon.

Just need to decide on the intensity of the bulb.

Was in my mates car over the weekend, and the difference is unreal. Canny wait.

I will note that when fitting the Kit the specialist also had to install additional components between the Xenon HID wiring Kit and the cars OE electrics. These items are not included with the Kit as standard, but were required, due to the car the Kit was fitted into - Seat Ibiza (Mk4).

I will update this post this evening with the extra items they had to fit, incase it might be useful for others that are fitting Xenon HID kits themselves (when I can check the invoice when i get home from work).

No bother, that would be great.

Im going to go and see how much it is for the local auto-electrician to fit them, as i know he has done a few. Just for a warrenty.

Hi guys, im thinking of getting some HIDs, just to clarify, does the safety harness only connect to one of the two bulb connectors? So one is left unused or are both utilised?

Cheers Rash, seems a good idea. But it isn't a concern with them going wrong, it was issues with the bulbs knackering on a regular basis on my Clio. And at £75 a bulb I was mighty pissed off with them at the end (Renault wouldn't warranty it).

Personally I wouldn't risk the extra expense just for some cool looking lights ;)

For comparison:

My car with Philips 80% brighter on dipped on right, 03 plate Range Rover with HIDs dipped on left.

And facing the wall.

They are as bright as HIDs i think, if no more so.

the picture is very deseeving as your beezer is facing the lens and the rover is pointing away so it makes yours look brighter but

imo the blueish beam make the brickwork ALOT more visable as your beam is more spread but the zennons have a great crisp beam line.
we all have diffrent tastes tho!

i belive you only use 1 of the ballasts connectors onto the saftey wiring harness but this makes the kit use power directly from battery

EDIT (as mentioned) - The Invoice only specified "Adaptor Kit" (pity thought it might have given for details). There were 2 X of these, therefore 1 for each headlight i presume. Am sure they said these Adaptor Kits also contained some form of current/voltage protection too.

What rating are your Philips Bulbs Guffers - should state a Kelvin rating?
For comparison, the HID Xenon kit i have installed is the 8000K version.

What is the make/brand of your HID Kit Rash?
Different companies make their own "version" of the Xenon kits.
Therefore the Blue/White blend of one kit rated at 8000K made by X, won't necessarily look the same as the next 8000K kit made by company Y.

Theres 2 looks to these - The Xenon's that sortof have a hint of blue as they drive over the brow of a hill towards you, or ride over a bump, where the hit of blue appears, but look white generally.

Then there's the electric Blue HID Xenons - which I'd say mine look more like.
Bit of an in-between, very clean white with a radiant crisp electric blue haze to them.

Some guy that lives near me drives a Type-R with a VERY Blue HID kit (alot more blue than mine) - you hardly see any White light at all ! Bit OTT and maybe not street legal?

EDIT: I think its difficult to capture the "colour" of a set of Xenon lights in just a picture, would be better to get a short vid of them being switched on / driving past a static camera. :D

It also depends on camera settings - white balance etc - so you'll never get a proper comparison. Everyone would have to manually configure their cameras identically.

Totally agree...
Only way to settle this debate is to get all the SCN Ibiza's side by side - one massive meet - those with OE Halogens vs Guffers Philips 80% brighter vs HID Xenons :D ;)
