I agree with the advice to remove the heater stuff to get access but I was so cramped for room with the size of the unit I bought that I carefully took a Dremel cutter to some of the plastic at the back of the aperture to make more room making sure to not remove anything that might be structural. I notice that some of the newer units are tiny (in comparison) behind the screen

Before I had my Android Leon-specific unit I had a Philips standard double din size unit in there using the same kind of adaptor and I had a similarly less than ideal fit

Yes It's not ideal but I'm done with it now and it's in. I can at least now use my phone to play Spotify, my old unit only had an old iPod connection.
