As I was driving I noticed that the yellow engine light was on to the right of the instrument panel. There was no "bing" or any message displayed when it happened. There is no message when I start the car now either. The light just stays on. The manual says there is something wrong with the exhaust system. I am regretting that I left my OBDelven at home so much right now :) Any tips on this besides checking with a OBD reader as I'm not going home untill late next week.

You can try going into the data app on the infotainment, then status, and it may show any warnings, if it doesn't show perhaps it cleared itself but I am by no means a mechanic.

You Can also try the seat connect app it would show in there too

So I have now done a OBD scan and the error code is "P242200 - Evaporative Emission System Vent Valve Stuck Closed."

Checking around this is a common problem on older cars. But I've only done 1800 km in mine so far.
The OBD fault log:

---
P242200 - Evaporative Emission System Vent Valve Stuck Closed
static
Date: 2021-05-04 17:17:29
Mileage: 471 km
Priority: 2
Malfunction frequency counter: 1
Unlearning counter: 40
Engine speed: 1275.50 1/min
Normed load value: 10.6 %
Vehicle speed: 61 km/h
Coolant temperature: 71 °C
Intake air temperature: 13 °C
Ambient air pressure: 1000 mbar
Voltage terminal 30: 14.860 V

So I only got this error one time? Does this "Unlearning counter" mean that it will clear it self after 40 okey atempts to open the valve?

Well, I'm booking my car at the garage anyway since it's under waranty but just curious :)

Update 12 weeks later and your still at the stage you were when you posted in March knowing the cars got a light on and needs to go to the garage ?

Well, may 11 was just 9 days ago but yes and no. I now have the obd fault scan and just wanted to know If anyone know any more about how to read it. Could be good to know for the next one.

Hi, mine has the same issue all of a sudden just yellow engine icon light up, but also my fan from the radiator is spinning continuously,,, no other symptoms, loss of power, charging battery, going electric/hybrid/gas, brakes... everything is ok, just the light and the fan spins non-stop when I start the car doesn't matter if it is full in electric mode, fan still spins... odd.

And yea only 5900km on mine, so very low. Hope is just a sensor that is dirty since I travelled alot last 2 weeks in the rain/dirt and didn't wash the car until today because again some rain will fall so... waiting more sunny days :).

Was wondering if you have a resolution on yours ? thx

Yellow engine light = emission systems fault. Could be a multitude of things, lambda sensor, exhaust gas sensor etc etc. Needs scanning.

This I know, I went already to scan it... and seems is a temperature sensor defaulting... but still strange they could not bypass it to see if it is really that. Anyway they seemed to discover something in the pins of the cable coming from the car computer to that sensor was the problem, not the sensor itself. Next week I hope it will be finished properly although even now everything is ok they "half" repaired it.

That is why I am curious to what they said in the other case.

PS: seems that yellow engine icon could represent a multitude of things :) not only exhaust.

So, finaly after three visits to the dealer they found the error on my car. A hose in the evaporitive recycling system had come loose. The system was therefore unable to create vacuum and the valve could not open (just as the error message said). Pretty crap that it took three visits before they checked the affected system. The computer did say where the problem was.

Mine also they found it, seemed to be a temperature sensor malfunctioning… After 1 visit, hope all ok from now on.

Hello, I have a Cupra Leon estate (reg 2020), the engine light it's been on since this morning but I can't see any issues with engine which is working properly and efficiently.
Is it safe to keep driving with the light on?
The garage will check it after mid march and I am not sure I can drive up to the 19th.
Would this be covered by warranty?
