On my home from work everything appeared to stop working - Radio, front parking sensors, front collision, SOS emergency unavailable maybe more but I was in heavy traffic at the time so didn`t have opportunity to investigate further!
What`s all that about and how often will that happen?

It has corrected itself now but how often is that going to happen, what causes it and is there no way to correct it other than leaving it to self correct!

I`m not impressed for a car costing circa £50K to lose the Radio is a bit pathetic especially on a long journey and would the Sat Nav go as well?

What registration year is your vehicle?

Ok if I understood correctly the infotainment system freezes up and practically your locked out of everything.
So what I do while driving, there is touch power button on infotainment.
You basically hold it or I say keep it pressed for a good few seconds, screen will flicker or go blank but keep it pressed, then I think at some point you would see beats logo, during that you will see all sort of messages errors this is not working that is not working etc. But it comes back .
Maybe next time try that.
I have not encountered it from a long time now.
Few days back I got the last update of software which people have been discussing here don't remember the version.
So not sure how that would behave.
But all in all you can come around by holding that button potentially a reboot of infotainment I guess.
Thats all while you are driving.

Cheers.

Rules out the latest software update suite. What version of software is the infotainment system running?
It says Software 1900 I assumed that was up to date as the dealer had to make an update to the Matrix lights when I bought it last year.

This is what I received few days back OTA. I am assuming this is the latest or the most updated.

With all modern cars, especially those under warranty, buying an OBD scanner is one of the best investments you can make.

A lot of them (like OBDeleven) have really easy apps where you can scan for any issues with one tap of your phone. £60 isn't bad insurance on a £50,000 purchase.

It can identify areas where there are lingering issues. It is not always 100% precise, but can narrow down areas where there are mechanical issues and electric gremlins that official dealerships refuse to look for.

I have 3 cars and I keep an OBD2 code reader in each, two are generic readers and one is a more capable in depth reader that cost me £400.

Now can someone tell me what infotainment software is the latest and is it necessary to keep updating it if it is not the latest I should have - my car says Software 1900 but looking on the internet I find all sorts of varying different numbers.

You see 1900, the image i attached I guess that's the actual software version. Where you are looking at ? Is it the same display? Thats what I got OTA few days back.

Didn't get chance to go to car, just explored my mobile had few pics.
So it was 1969 then in July got OTA it increment to 1988, now I am guessing it would be 1989 maybe.

I have read some instances where owners have updated and it has caused problems they didn't have before so is it a case of "if it ain't broke don't fix it?"

That’s the philosophy I tend to adopt for most things 😉.

@Delanor , so I bought car new in Feb 2024 all was good when suddenly infotainment froze on me several times.
On 1st or second service can't remember, I told dealership while handing the car that it freezes and I am locked out no navigation etc.
While handing back they said they have updated the software.
Since then I am getting regular OTA and less infotainment freezes maybe once a year. Previously it was quite frequent. Hence found that work around of soft reset while holding the power button. I can't go back and forth to dealerships it costs time and money to me leaving work finding time. And yes it has moved to 1989 checked last night. While I was on 1988 approx 6 months ago it froze once. So still better than before.
