i noticed at the start of the thread it said it was easy to change a bulb on the cupra, when i tried changing my side light it was a nightmare. As i was determined not to take the battery out to get to the bulb cover i ended up even losing my metal clip for the cover DOH!

where was a going wrong?

we said headlight bulbs...you said sidelight bulbs....thats where your going wrong! side lights are a pain in the bom

If i remember correctly its H7! :)

Drop down menu on the left.. click on it and scroll down to Osram Products - H7.. select that. The Silver Star bulbs then appear at the top! :)

H7 OSRAM Silver Star

50% brighter than standard lights.

Cone of Light up to 20m longer.

5 star rating

Road legal

£23.76 pair

These the correct ones for headlights or should i be buying the H1's?

I ended up with the Phillips £25.00 don't rate them at all unless i've fitted them wrong even vans have better light than me! 1 doesn't look perfectly straight so i'll re-do that and see if it makes any difference!

It wouldn't be because i put the pins from the bulb in the wrong connections would it?

Err... I think you'll find HID are High Intensity Discharge lamps... Completely different to Xenons.

i have had a Hid kit in my car for quite a while now. NO headlamp melting of any sort. i have the 6000k's brought from HERE. they look brilliant and i honeslty dont know how people cope with standard bulbs any more.

to be honest aswell i have 120W main beam bulbs (only when off road ;)) and they dont make a darn difference to the lighting in front of the car, i just raise the adjustment slightly and they are perfect!

the 10000ks are very good and a massive improvement over standard, but they're not as bright as 6000k's...but they are a pretty colour lol

haven't had any flashes from other drivers or police attention.

i only paid 65 quid for some new HID's 8000k. best 65 quid i've spent i think
