Folks,

Bit of a general question here, i've heard (can anyone confirm) that you can buy ANY VAG part from ANY VAG dealer - is this the case?

I ask because as i'm sure many know there is no (and i mean NO) SEAT dealer(s) in the Aberdeen area, so can i buy a SEAT only item (Ibiza Strut Brace/Side Strips for a 5 Door Ibiza) from a VW/Audi/Skoda Dealer? OR is it only 'transferable parts' i.e. general VAG parts shared by all 1.8T engines for example?

Thanks in advance,

PJ.

In my experience you can only buy common parts from VAG dealers unfortunately.
Best bet for accessories is to buy from one of our 'discounted' cupranet friendly dealers who have their own forum sections on here, and cough up the postage costs.

Yeah, that makes sense, there is a 'service only' dealer reasonably close (app50-60mi) and the car is booked in there for the end of next week so i may order a few 'choice parts' and collect them from there OR investigate this 'discounted cupranet friendly dealers' with postage - hmmmmm - sounds interesting!!

I remembering reading (auto express i think) that Skoda are the cheapest for VAG sercvicing, for what is essentially the same service you'd recieve if you put it to VW/Audi etc etc

Thoughts on or experience of this anyone?

I know that this is an old thread, but there IS a SEAT/SKODA dealer in Aberdeen ;--- SEAT (SPECIALIST CARS ) LTD, WEST TULLOS INDUSTRIAL ESTATE.
They use just one workshop.

A general statement about the topic of this thread is, that VAG do not "allow" or "enable" the different marque's outlets to supply unique "other marque" parts - full stop! VAG has rolled out a "parts specialist service" but this is only meant for the use of non VAG garages or when VAG repair shops have another (VAG) marque's car in for repair. I tried using my local VW van center for some VW "car only" parts and they could not use the "parts specialists" for that function - ie just buying in parts to save "me" from finding my way to a VW car parts place! It has to be said where possible, and I have ETOS so can provide the numbers, they will always get me parts - but when its "no" then they really do mean "no".
