LCR Value?

Hello,

After selling my Leon FR TDI after 8 months of ownership I have been running a BMW 330d Sport.

I like it but want a petrol again.

Been offered a black Cupra R on a 52 plate with 85,000 miles for £8,500. I assume its the 210. Does this seem good value or are there lower mile cars out there for the same price.

How good is the reliability as im sick of spending a fortune on the BMW (its got 104,000). How well would the R sell in a yrs time?

You can do better than that I would have thought. For example I picked up my July 04 LCR 225 for 10.3K last month. It's only got 31K on the clock. Granted, it's a bargain but proves they are out there.

If you've got an absolute Max of £8.5K, I would look at cars advertised at £9.5K then haggle, hard. You'd be suprised what people will do when you wave a big bag of cash under their nose.

IMO if you buy a 52plate with the mileage you mentioned you'll soon be up to 100K... that's a psychological milestone... and the car won't be worth sh*t then.

No it's not. Average miles these days are around 15k per year. 84k miles over 5 years is just over 16k miles a year so it's not huge.

Plus these are good, solid and reliable engines. If they have been looked after well, serviced properly and well treated 85k miles is nothing, they will do double that.

Yes, it's high, but it's not huge and not necessarily a problem. The price more than makes up for it.

The price seems abit high for such a high mileage, don't know what the re-sale value will be now that the New Cupra is due to hit the shores any second but then again don't tend to worry about things like that.......Live for the moment.

Your better off spending abit more and getting a 225 R with all the toys, theres always a few for sale in here.

What car valuation based on 85K

Dealer £8,170

Private £7,220

Part Ex £6,770

That say's it all really.

As has been said ignore the mileage. I'd rather have a high mileage car that has been looked after vs a lower mileage that hasn't.
The price is a little on the high side, but I'd probably pay around £8,000 if it was in good condition.

I can't see LCR prices falling much further as they are still a desireable car and there don't seem to be hundreds of LCR owners selling up to buy the MKII Cupra which always affects values.

Don't worry about getting a 225 over a 210 as they both map up to the same power and the small differences (steering wheel, colour of badge and tracker) don't make it worth a premium in my opinion.

The price may be a touch high, but play the game right and that will quickly drop! Paying £8k for a LCR in good condition is going to be the bargain of the year!

Thing is I have a trade in so its costing me nowt to change from BMW to the Cupra.

If I go for a lower miles then I have to pay another 2k on top of the negative equity I have now it doesnt make it worth it.

Other dealers are offering me 7k for the BMW which is just plain funny!!

I plan on keeping it a couple of yrs anyway by which time I will only have around 3k tied up in it.

I do want a yellow r but none of the dealers want to offer me good trade in prices - this lot like their BMWs you see.

Bear in mind despite peoples opinions I sold my TDI FR 9 months after buying it for the same price I paid for it (newer model will drop prices blah blah erm not so)

Thanks for the advice tho - the fact I see S3's with the same engine through a 4*4 system running into 120k makes me feel better.

When do you need to swap? Mine is a 2003 (May) 210 in black and it's done 83,000 (ish, I think).

I'll be selling soon-ish after I've got a confirmed date for my next car, which I haven't ordered yet.

Mine will be up for a lot less than £8,500

anyone know how much a 03 plate lcr with 56k miles on the clock would be worth or not, well looked after receipts and full service history although not at SEAT dealerships at places like JKM, oil change every 5000 miles

privately I would say at least £9.5k depending on condition, ie its a performance car so the tyres and brakes should all be in good order and obviously should have full service history.

After mulling it over have decided I will do it - going to try and get it down to 8k though see I can get some cash back from the BMW or something.

They have two other Rs in so if im not happy with the higher mileage one I have the cash to go for the lower mileage cars

Mine is a January 2004 LCR225 with 32k on the clock. One owner from new, FSSH, Tracker and warranty just renewed for a year and just had its first MOT.
I have been offered £10.5k for it against ordering a new Cupra.
