the honeycomb looks mile better than the slats, but im sure that the "s" badge on a honeycomb would look even better!

sorry mate, but imho, it definately looks like its lost something without the "s"

just count me in for a BIG PLUS :):) nice one

Just a thought, but if you managed to get a lower grill (bit under the bumper) on the cheap could you "cut it up" to get the extra honeycomb you need to fill the space at the top, you would have some left to do more if required. May not be cost effective or physically possible, just a suggestion. Looks good though, I prefer the honeycomb to the slats.

Well skidder i did actually think the same thought and ordered a lower grille, when it arrived i thought great and just as i started to cut it up, i thought hang on...??

The grille on the lower half of the car is alot larger than the above, and if i was to fit it inbetween the two side honey comb parts, it would stand out IMHO badly...
Also the other thing i noticed is all the grille have a curved to them and teh honeycomb is angled to be straight when mouted, so if i was to use it on the grill above i would have to flip the girl around to make it match the CURVE in the centre grille, again another head ache, so this is when i thought use the side grillss themselves... then the honeycomb is identical the curve in the in centre is identical... the only thing i didnt for see was the piece was short by 15mm.... and to add on another piece, was just to much of a head ache. so i came to this idea of a plastic cover...:D

Also thanks for everyones comments, glad people like it.. as alot of people have said teh S does look better in it... but then to also mould in the "S" into the honeycomb would be even more of a head ache and also would be missing the 15mm in the top half even if i retro fit the "S"...

AS above i have my OEM version now, and going to use my OEM slats to convert it to a badgeless or badged grill with slats.. if any ones intrested?

What do most people want the slats in the right direction WITH or WITHOUT the "S"???

Seeing it in the flesh it does look much better than slats and gives that OEM feel which is cool.

How easy is it to do just the sides? I'd like to leave my centre with the black S badge but change the sides to honeycomb.

Not to hard Rob, just a matter of patience... remove the honeycomb from a MY03 bumper, cut the slats from the Cupra R one and plastic weld in place again.

If you get hold of a honeycomb grill, you will see where you can cut to fit it in, pretty easy to see when you got the two pieces in your hand!

Looks good fella, the slat stands out but im sure you could fix that easy enough. You say the lower honeycone is too big and not angled, what about useing a chopped up side vent to fill the gap?

LOL, thats what that centre piece is made from the side grills... hence why the slat is there, the side pieces are not high enough to span the complete height of the centre grill!
I tried mergin two pieces of the centre grills but as i said, angles all wrong and i would need to buy two side grill assemblys and use two right or left grills parts and somehow seamless merge two pieces together without it being to aparent, hence after thinking that thou, i gave up that route and just put the slat in the top!!

not as easy a job as it looks mate, credit where its due i think you done pretty well, just need to find out how to overcome the slat on the centre piece, good luck mate and keep us updated!

You slacker! If anyone can do it you can mate. Have you tried looking on places like ESP designs as you can buy plasitic honeycone sheets that bend very easily? Or even better yet ford style woven mesh (not the cheap chav sh1t!)

Looks really good there mate well dun in takin the time 2 make that up.looks better De badged i think. i want 1 now just need time 2 make 1

That black cupra looks stupid.

What's going on with that bike plate on there too!

LOL Thanks Scott..

Well i have had a look round and the nearest i have got to the honeycomb pattern match was on the new Golf, its slightly larger pattern, but may b able to get away with it... only thing is that piece that matchs is part of a huge piece and costs near £100 for it.. so I'm gonna try and clay mould the OEM honeycomb and cast a new plastic grill from a plastic crystal kit, sand it down and paint it... to match... its a long shot but it will cost near to nothing and if it works i can keep the mould and do a few more.... [B)]

Again its something i have to add to the long list of to do's... got the gauges set dashes, the custom gauges, the install before the show season, another debadged grill honeycomb and well everything else that pops up in that time...
Looks as I'll be busy! lol

Price of honeycomb grill?

So how much does the grill cost and is it easy to fit? I've got an annoying hole on just the right side of my current one (courtesy of a big stone I imagine) but I'm going to have to replace the whole thing aren't I?
