15bhp is going to make absolutely bugger all difference, doesn't it weigh more aswell?

I've got a funny feeling they will be bringing out an R version!

Wasn't the Mk1 cupra released before the LCR? I wonder whether there was talk of the LCR when the Mk1 cupra was released?

Surely if SEAT started announcing the development of a Mk2 LCR then this would have a direct impact on Mk2 LC sales???

Cheers

Short of the 3.2 from the R32/TT there's not much more they can offer from a road going (i.e. everyday use by your gran) 2.0.

funnaly enough i have heard reports of seat testing the 3.2 in the leon!
back to the last page, mk2 cupra to mk1 cupra is not a comparison as the fr took over from the original cupra. so seat have a new model line up fr then cupra as with the ibiza. as for a new r i think its highly unlikely to be here at least as seat felt it unnecesarry to bring the mk1 cupra4 and vw have no intention to bring the new polo gti cup, we just really want one as the new cupra is a bit of disappointment looks wise.

They wont be releasing a new LCR version because they dropped it originally due to Honda moaning it was too similar to there type R (I think....).

If they release another more power version of the Leon I dont think Audi or VW would be to happy SEAT taking sales away from them.

Vw are just about to release the Passat R36 and followed by the Gold R36
Normally when car manufactures make updated engines the old engies end up in other cars e.g. BMW’s old M5 engine ended up in a special edition version of the M3, Merc done the same with its C class there is a 480bhp C class using an old E class AMG engine, original 3 series 1.6 (from compact) ended up in old Mini Cooper or S?? Jaguar are at the moment getting rid of its V8 cause a new one is being developed, they’ve used this engine in the XC90, the Range Rover Sport and a high performance version of the S-type. (jaguar best example because they mass produced the engine but never sold many cars so now its gone across most of fords brands. Jag are in development with BMW on a new engine for the XF and supercharged XK

I thought VW said they had no intention of making a Golf R36? Something about the engine being physically wrong for the car, plus there being no need when the R32 is fine for it's needs. Could be wrong though....?

It should have read Gold R26.

Its a limited edition 26 carat gold version of the Golf, VW have given into bling culture and are giving the 'masses' what they want!

Not a direct comparison however a standard Edition 30 Golf ran a 14.32 1/4 mile at Santapod it was a DSG however launch control wasn't used. Not sure what a standard LCR would run sure some people here will know but gives a comparison. Thought 14.32 was pretty quick though means its hitting a 100 in under 15secs, remapped that should be well into the 13s. I would assume a new Leon Cupra would be slightly quicker standard.

I think the new Leon is quicker than a LCR as it can get the power down better, the engines also appear to be running around 260bhp standard by the few that have went on the rollers.

I don't see SEAT making a 3.2 anything. It isn't in keeping with their "game plan".

As someone as already said, they'd be taking this powerplant from the R32/S3 and it will annoy the nuts out of VW/Audi buyers. Cheaper (probably), sportier looking (probably) and newer (definitely)... so I don't see it happening.

The current Mk2 Cupra fills a niche. It's SEATs fastest car to date and it is a real contender for top 5 hot-hatch in recent years. Why would they inflate this car and make it out to be the ultimate SEAT car.. and then throw out a Mk2 R32? This isn't the difference between the FR and the Cupra here.. it's a whole other engine!

I don't see it happening.
