he he... fair point in a pointless thread. 15bhp difference... the weight and skills of the driver could make the difference.shouldnt we be comparing the new cupra to the old cupra? not the new cupra to the old cupra R?
They wont be releasing a new LCR version because they dropped it originally due to Honda moaning it was too similar to there type R (I think....).I've got a funny feeling they will be bringing out an R version!
Wasn't the Mk1 cupra released before the LCR? I wonder whether there was talk of the LCR when the Mk1 cupra was released?
Surely if SEAT started announcing the development of a Mk2 LCR then this would have a direct impact on Mk2 LC sales???
Cheers
Correct, the new FR is what the Cupra was, and the new Cupra is what the Cupra R was.
This is my understanding.

If they release another more power version of the Leon I dont think Audi or VW would be to happy SEAT taking sales away from them.
Vw are just about to release the Passat R36 and followed by the Gold R36
lofer, note the second bit "followed by the Gold R36", im guessing thats a typo and is supposed to be Golf!
I think you will find he said passat R36 mate.![]()
Nicely said tbh! Saved me righting what you just said out againI don't see SEAT making a 3.2 anything. It isn't in keeping with their "game plan".
As someone as already said, they'd be taking this powerplant from the R32/S3 and it will annoy the nuts out of VW/Audi buyers. Cheaper (probably), sportier looking (probably) and newer (definitely)... so I don't see it happening.
The current Mk2 Cupra fills a niche. It's SEATs fastest car to date and it is a real contender for top 5 hot-hatch in recent years. Why would they inflate this car and make it out to be the ultimate SEAT car.. and then throw out a Mk2 R32? This isn't the difference between the FR and the Cupra here.. it's a whole other engine!
I don't see it happening.
