Best thing to do if you want to stay out of trouble is keep your rear number plate standard and change your front one to a pressed German font one. Reason being that you are most likely to get pulled over when you are being followed by a police car, and if your rear plates are OK then you should be too.

Mig

I got nabbed by a police officer driving towards me, he turned round in the next layby then followed me. So he saw the front of my car first then the rear ;)

F**king jobsworth, thanks to the government introducing budget allocation in relation to hitting targets we're going to put up with this pettiness as we are a soft easy target that generally has the money to pay the maximum fine & will always pay up, although you could argue we do bring it on ourselves by sticking our heads out like this!

just get them, if you get pulled just say i bought the car like this :D

wonder how many times they hear that andy!

You've got UK font and GB banded, you'll be fine mate.
Although when i picked my ibiza up in england there seemed to be LOADS more traffic cops than in Glasgow/Scotland.

ive been pulled and used that excuse and they let me off so it does work. It all depends on how the police feel we all know that!

I got caught doin 120 down the m3 at 3 in the morning and the officer let me off and didnt even brethalize me even though id picked all my mates up from a night club and could have quite easily been drinking!! It all depends on how they feel.

Very true I got away with doing about 110-115 at 2am once on the M25 they came flying up behined me up so I moved over as they approached not seeing it was a copper then they came level and matched my speed I refused to look across for about 30 seconds as being near top end wasn't going to gun it, when I did finally look over and sh*t a brick I let off and the copper just stuck his thumb up & they belted off into the distance!

then 2 days later I got pulled for lighting a fag at the wheel (at lights I may add) and they spent nearly half an hour pulling my car to bits, it's all in the mood!

i've got "E"banded pressed plates, never been pulled for them (touch wood) and i drive through london (probs the worst police).

the MOT place didnt even take note of them lol, they're reflective and the font is legible therefore most police dont care, albeit illegal still

I used to always get pulled. Now I don't.

I'm under no illusions, I know my plates are illegal and I'm prepared to swap them over for producers, pay fines or whatever.

But, as of yet, not been done for them. They've been on a good few months now too.

The plates ive ordered are uk font and GB banded and the font is still legible. They are reflective and that so they pretty much look like a standard plate.

I will put them on and see what happens, but to be fair, in my area the police are too busy dealing with under-age drinkers etc so i think i will get away with it for a bit.

So im still in a predicement about fitting the plates?? Dont know whether to screw them or use another method. Only thing i have about velcro is that in my town people will take anything metal or watever as long as they can scrap them and get money for it. Hence why im using locking nuts on my wheels etc.
