me and the old man are going to do an oil change on my ibiza gti 16valve,

had a quick look and there is a big pan under the engine, do we have to take that off to drain the oil? many thanks :)

tis the sump plug u need to take out, located at the bottom of...guess what....the sump :) lol

forgot to ask......what oil u whacking in? coz once mine is running im gonng do a full service on mine, didnt kno weather to cheapo oil it or if theres any oil out there which is great for 1.8i 16v?

once i jack the car up i shud see the sump plug?

ive just got some castrol 10/40 gtx magnatec, best stuff is prob castrol edge sport 5/30

think dollygti is talking about the plastic engine undertray which ul need to take off and alpinewhite is referrin to the sump itself!!

why dont u just spend like £12 and get budget to do it?
I gave them the oil alone and the drained it, fitted a new filter, disposed of the old oil for £8.

or spend a bit(circa 30 quid) and get a pella pump, suck it all out of the dip stick tube, and not have to run the risk of cracking the sump trying to get the sump plug out,i have used one 4-5 times now and i wouldn't change the oil any other way.

Nooooo

16v needs semi.... I use Synta 10/40, what the manufacture recommends and when I was at Stealth Racing he also uses that in all his engines!, them two reason's are more than good enough for me!
