Good going. I'm determined to break through the same barrier in early 2008. I also think I need more practise/knowledge of how to make a car "tick" on the 1/4 mile which will probably get me as much time as upping the power.

I'm running a VT5 on stock injectors and have never had it dynoed. An estimated 220-230bhp maybe more. I'm not too hung up on the power figure unless curiosity is getting the better of me. It drives pretty well.
What is most impressive is the way it pulls after 3000rpm and holds the power/boost to nearly 5500rpm. 95mph in third no problems. Above 100mph in fourth is now something else once it gets going.

Yeah, even mine doesn't really go beyond 5000 - or at least it seems that the car is more effective being shifted up a gear at 5000rpm, and not taken any further. 5500rpm must be around the limiter on a TDI I would imagine?

it was the turbo that allards advised me on which was the vt2 i think. it boosts toa peak of 30psi ans sits at a prettymuch constant 28psi higher up the rev range, my car wont push a 95 in 3rd gear even on the limiter.... unless the fabia ids geared different i dunno....

I think its because the earlier vRS (like mine) had longer gearing, so thats probably why mine gets there.

Hi all,
I never thought that my original post would result in so much information.
I'm fascinated by the depth of knowledge that you all seem to have about your various cars, and the tuning projects that you are competently having carried out on them.
If I were to stick to diesel power and purchased a second "play car" for 1/4 mile and track/sprint use would any of you like to suggest a good base vehicle as a starting point.
I think my choices are Fabia or Ibiza, but not sure which model of diesel to start with, should I go straight for a 140 or are 90, 110, 115 or 130's good too. I gather that the 170 with the particulate filter is to be avoided, is this corrrect?

Current, Seat Ibiza Sport PD130's share the same gearbox ratio's earlier Skoda Fabia vRS up until the 54 plate (from what I can gather) at some point, when they changed the Ibiza to the FR and changed the gearbox, they did the same with the vRS 6/12 months later.

So anything from say a 04 plate on a Ibiza (aka a FR) has the same gearbox as a 05 plate onward vRS.

Still begs the question, gear ratio's or not, how your car goes strong until 5,500rpm when the limiter is 300rpm before?
