Hi all. Ive just got me an S2000 aerial to fit but i cant unscrew the existing aerial all the way off.

Does anyone know how to remove it?

Thanks :)

Here you go mate,

STEP 1:

To remove the old aerial, the first step is to unscrew the aerial as though you were going to lay it down for a carwash. Unscrew the aerial as far as possible

STEP 2:

From here, you should be showing a slight length of thread. This is the worrying part - the removal now requires a SHARP tug on the aerial with one hand on the aerial, and one around the base of it, which is attached to the roof. This removes the aerial anti-theft and the aerial should then be free of the car.

Taken from the guides section on leoncupra.co.uk

never see the point of changing the aerial..after market ones never give the same radio signal strength as the original...
then some little d*ck head nicks it cause its now lost the anti theft nut..
just my personal opinion.
like they say if it ain't bolted down it goes walkabouts

Its on!

Cheers Guys. Its on despite it raining cats and dogs. And yes I nearly dislocated my shoulder pulling the old one off but it was worth it.

Thanks :)

just out of curiousity, did you have to cut the new aerials rubber slightly to screw it in?

well I did on my 130tdi, the screw on the new aerial wasn't long enough, perhaps I got a similar s2000 aerial not the real deal.

Let me get this right... to overcome the anti-theft device you have to PULL the aerial sharply???? great feature that!

 lol  have to agree

Nothing like having a great anti theft feature !!!

We've made it sound easier than it is. It takes way more force than your average chav is prepared to expend to steal an aerial. I had to use a claw hammer to get mine off!

S2000 aerial gives just as good a signal as the OEM one.

This is one of the mods i've been thinking about, trouble is, i tend to be a bit lazy and use a car wash  occassionally, suppose this means that i'll have to remove the S2000 antenna instead of just laying it down as per the original one..

yeh probably!!! ive got a short black alloy one on n i have to remove mine!! although i tend not to use car washes as they scratch the f*ck out of your car!!! the signal is also sh*te on mine, so i might be changing it for the s2000 if its as good as you say????

think its a head lining down job!!! n there should be a nut on the underside of the roof that would need lossening and then retightening once you have sorted the rubber!!

JESUS!

Got my FR back now, was gonna start some easy mods now I can.

I can't even do the aerial mod  I can't get the old one out. Just spent half hour trying to pull the begger off, not shifting at all.

Anyone else had this? I'm no Jean-Claude Van Damme but I'm no weed either (well, didn't think so till now)

My roof was bending I was pulling so hard :wtf:

You need to give it a sharp tug up wards rather than a long hard pull while holding the base so you don't deform your roof ;)
