i have a couple of scratches, which im assuming have been done accidentally by my neighbour but thats a different subject.

luckly it hasnt gone down the the paint substrate but just the lacquer.....it is quite substantial tho. it looks like a scratch that could have been caused by wet and dry paper...:ban:

so i am unsure as what to do....i doubt i will need to get it resprayed, i think it could just get polished out. any recommendations on manufactures?

try a bit of T cut or audotgly paint renovator. Great for getting scratches out, I have used it a few times. If its so deep you can feel it with your nail it will need repsraying.

i tried the t-cut (color matched type) and it didnt really work, it covered it up for a while but didnt do very well. the scratches arent deeo enough for the finger nail test. i heard a rubbing compund could do the trick?

I bought some G3 Cutting paste a while ago. I used it on my bros black celica yesterday to get rid of some scratches and it worked great. T-cut was only covering them up. I used the G3 paste with plently of water otherwise you can burn the paint!

try meguiars scatch x, comes in a little tube @ about £7 is the dogs for getting scratches out, i used some the weekend and it's come out mint on a really deep scratch :)

dont you need an electric buffer of somesort to polish it out after tho??

yes SCN rate! Ad my mate polished out them scratches quite well by my rear lights i showed you, unfortunetly i discovered the paint had come off on the edge of the passenger door and a few other scratches that need spraying over while we were looking grrr!

ive got a couple of scratches (down to the paint) on the edges of my door as i have a tight driveway, when i come out of the car at night the door swings and hits the wall....i touched them up with a pen then t-cut it smooth again, actually worked...

Typical!

Not all scratches will need spraying - a good detail will get rid of most of them! :)

I'm gonna get one of them pens for the passenger door, had no idea it was that bad but then i rarely open that door! Got the part no. for mine as the old owner had one for the bonnet stone chips and he lef thte reciept, hope if i T- cut it a bit it will do its only on the door edge so you cant see it when its shut. Will have to get the other painted though as thye are down to primer.

As said G3 will sort it out no probs! ;)

It may make your paint look faint a few months down the line depending on how you look after the car but just polish it up with some wax and it'll be fine! :)

You don't need a polisher - I use G3 by hand all the time. You've just gotta be a man about it. :bleh:

Spoke to the detailer today... TnS have offered introductory detail price for SCN members booked through me! :)
