Does anyone on here know how to fit the above to an LCR?

Im looking for a detailed step by step instructions similar to what is found on PABS web site.

I know its 95% the same as fitting the boost gauge, but were does the Oil Temp gauge cable connect to the engine?

Thanks again.

P.S PABS your website is excellent very clear and easy to follow one thing thought what size of torx do i need for removing fuse box?

Keep up the good work.

I think matt has a short description of fitting oil temp/pressure sensor.

There should be a blanking cap on the oil cooler donut where the oil filter attatches. Also you will need a 1/8npt t-peice to attach the sensor too and insert into the hole.

Can't remember the size tho just check that out pretty sure it is 1/8npt for vag engines.

But most places like demon tweaks will tell you the size required.

The blanking plate is a black alan key screw, its about 1.5 cm wide sits above and to the left of the oil filter. Its very well hidden but if you get a torch and look down throuch the inlet manifold you should be able to spot it.

But i didnt spot it untill i had removed loads of bits but when i knew where it was i could see it from above.

Dunno if i made sense, if you get really stuck all go take some pics for you.

I believe im the only 1 that has the temp gauge fitted to an LCR as mat has the pressure gauge but the sender goes into the same place!

It will be good for comparisons as im often getting high readings and have nothing to compare too (120c)

Like has been said there is an alan key sized screw on the oil filter housing. Remove that and screw in the sender and run the wire back to the gauge!

Beware...The screw is very difficult to get out so watch you dont round it off! I did and struggled with a pair of mole grips and it eventually gave way after about 1/2 hour of blood/sweat and tears!

Sorry to be a pain but can someone take a pic of this screw on oil filter housing? please?

Also will oil spill out of screw when undone?

Do i need to use any special sealing tape i.e that plumbers stuff (dont know proper name).

Sorry if these questions are a bit lame.

It will spill if you turn your engine on but if the engines off it will not spill!

I never used any tape/sealant. I screwed it in very tight and went for a hard blast in the car, when i got back i examined the area for leaks and not a drop

The oil filter housing is about 2 inches right of the oil dipstick and can be a pain in the ass to get into as you need to take a couple of brackets off to get clear access

Sorry to hijack but I also have a question in relation to this:

What's the longest Temp. sender you can insert into the blank, without it affecting the oil flow etc.

I currently have a sender I want to try (long story) which is about 1.5 inches long.

I'm reluctant to use it in case it reduces oil flow etc.

Cheers in advance & sorry about the hijack

My sender is roughly the same size.

When i screwed it in very tightly there were still a couple of threads showing!

The plug is inserted into the top of the filter, it will not disrupt any oil flow!

Autometer oil temp gauge sender fitted to my old car; Seat Ibiza Cupra 1.8T. I miss my Ibiza and it's only been gone a week

bump of an old thread, so as not to upset the moaners

I've had my LC for a month now and love every journey. With the weather getting rather cold, I'm now more worried about damaging the turbo by running it before the oil is warm enough.

Is it worth the effort of fitting a gauge ?
I normally wait until the water temp is up to 90 before any spirited driving anyway :)

Well done for not starting a new thread.

The oil takes a while longer to warm up than the water.

that was my thinking :) and reason for the question.

I'll have a search for info on the Defi,

thanks mate
