Update

Headed down to Awesome GTi for them to take a look at the car...

Diagnostics checks done including checking the DBW at different throttle positions - they cant find anything wrong with the car.

Spoke to Andy - Sound guy and very knowledgable and the next step is to put it on the rolling road to check the fuelling / air ... but thats not cheap

They wouldnt be able to do it till next week but I asked if it could be a problem with the remap and he said possibly and the fact I can get the stock map put back on easily to try for a few days would be worth trying before putting it on the rolling road.

So next step is to put the stock map back on... if its still playing up then we know the map is fine and it needs rolling roaded.

Andy reckons its unlikely to be the TIP on the 180bhp engine - they dont generally suffer with a basic remap... tends to be higher powered cars.

Thoughts anyone?

True ... but wont be too happy if I pay out for the rolling road session then they still cant tell me whats wrong as is not cheap at £105+VAT per hour to diagnose on the RR...

I'm going to try the stock map first and if confirms my suspicions that its not the map then I will have to stump up for the RR session.

Have you tried logging the torque with Vag-com to check for unsual variations? This could be a step before you RR.

I think it would be better to do it with the stock map, because you know exactly what figures you should get.

Best of luck

These problems are always a PITA to diagnose and you seem to have tried most things you can......

I had two intermittent faults on my LCR, one with ABS kicking in randonly and one with a vibration.....both were diagnosed by a good mechanic at an independent garage.......both were fixed fairly cheaply too.

Mr OCD

I have a similar problem to yours around about 1800revs driving normal mine stutters before it actually pulls smooth please keep me updated i was hoping mine was just a dodgy standard dv

sorted

managed to sort the problem out the other night, found a bit of tape coming loose on a breather hose coming up on the passneger side of the engine, took it off too find quite a big gash in it. So i re taped it up while i wait for a replacement and hey presto back to normal. Might be worth checking on yours, the gash was right below where the hose merges with another before going to a vacuum thingy before rejoining the inlet after the MAF. just so you know my car was stuttering at about 2500 to 4000 and mainly in 4th 5th and 6th, also very stuttery at low revs in 1st gear before boost. seems like the map must have highlighted an already existing problem.

Well mine is getting worse... it was an absolute pig to drive on way home ... stuttering / surging from the moment it starts boosting ...

Not a happy bunny at the moment.

OCD.... id love to know what maps on this. can you at least say if its one of the common ones used on here? no blame... just very curious as to whats wrong.
if it is the map its the first time ive heard a map doing this.

The Map was done by a place in Bromsgrove, Birmingham ... they like their 'chips' and are advertised in the UK ;)

If its not the map what else can it be? - Even Awesome are stumped...

I have contacted P-Torque and they want to take a look at it ... fair trek though but have said if cant find problem then no charge which is top service!
