Not touched the plugs... just chucked in brand new BOSCH plugs and was done with it.

Holy merde!:-o Are you folks saying that you don't set your spark plug gaps?!

OK, so the last time I actually serviced one of my own cars, Ashes to Ashes was a no-1 single (not a TV show), & my car had 2 carbs, points & a distributor etc - but even in the current era of ECUs, fuel injection etc, surely you have to set plug gaps, specific to a car's make/model?

The gaps are standard for that range, and should be set right.
Doesn't hurt to check them, but on a tuned car they need to be slightly closed, not sure on the figure for an LC

Damn, I was really hoping when I reached the end of this thread there would be a fix because I have a very similar problem intermittently on my LCR. :(

Plugs were changed at 40k service last year so should be ok but I think coils are the original ones as is the TIP and the car is 5 years old.

if plugs were a problem and not firing, wouldnt it show as unburnt fuel at the lamba sensor?

also why limit to a certain rev range. plug problem would happen anywhere?

is this still the part throttle issue? cars perfect on wot?

Don't know for certain, but incorrect gaps might be causing flat-spots - more pertinently, it might also be a no-cost fix...

Its still got the part throttle issue but now its hesistating more ... also massive flat spot around 3000-4000rpm and wont rev to the redline ... its like someone flicks a switch bang on 5800rpm and power dies...

Obviously I dont usually run to redline but for the logging I did yesterday thats when I noticed it ...

Something isnt right.

Will set spark plug gaps to 0.7 tommorrow and check the TIP...

Got a bit of time to tinker tommorrow but not sure its worth bothering with seeing as Awesome are looking at it on Weds.

I know with the C20LET if they are tuned and the gaps are too big, the spark gets "blown-out" and causes a "judder" under boost.

And as said to gap them to 0.7mm is free to try.

could someone explain to me please in easy to understand terms, this gapping that you guys are talking about as never heard of it before?

learn something new every day :)

Plugs gapped and no difference...

So landed up washing and waxing it instead as not alot I can do now till it goes to Awesome on Wednesday.

Can't be bothered to read the whole thread to be honest but this thread caught my attention due to similar problems with mine, water temp sender cured my rough idle when cold...i'm still looking into power delivery problems with mine, it's very frustrating mate I know exactly where you are coming from! Hope you manage to sort it.

LOL :D ... cheers guys ...

Was getting worried as the car has been MUCH better over the past week but this morning on the way to work she was an absolute bitch... so hopefully will stay like that when Awesome take a look at it ... :D

Printed off all the VAG logs I took as well for them to look at... might save them a bit of work.
