Sorry if I'm going over old ground/stating obvious - but is your air-filter a standard dry-type or one of those fancy 'oily' air-filters, which can actually deposit their oil into the system, causing rough running (eg, by fouling the MAF, even nice new ones like yours)...?

Trouble with VAG.com - apart from the fact it's Windows-based :cartman: - is that it doesn't always detect if a part is starting to fail/not at max efficiency. For example, I had minor running probs with a Mk3 16v GTI; VAG.com said all's well, then a £25 temp sensor failed - replaced it & all was fine again.

Guess you've already tried all other permutations of VAG 1.8T-based forums to ask if anyone else has had same prob...?

Well I have a 60 mile round trip to do tonight so I'm going to plug the laptop in and run a load of logs ...

I'm going to log:

Groups:

003 and 118
115 and 020
031 and 032

For Coils:

014 / 015 / 016

That should give me a LOT of info to digest this evening over a beer.

I'm not too happy about doing the runs in 4th gear to redline though ... would 3rd be ok?

I wouldn't log 031 and 032 together as a pair as they don't log RPM. 115 and 118 do, so for these blocks I'd do 3 runs with:

003 and 020
115 and 031
118 and 032

OK... Log time...

All runs done in 3rd gear from 2500rpm to red line ... wanting to retain my licence I wasnt happy doing them in 4th gear.

If its still jerky try servicing the 007p ( i think theres a guide on forges web site ) , It may be sticking slightly.

But its brand new... as in done less than 200-300 miles since I fitted it!!

The car got worse as I did the logs... felt like the power was cutting in and out and was struggling to rev past 6000rpm...

Do the timing figures and O2 figures look ok?

mid range from 4k rpm seems ok... its from 2500 to 3800rpm where the car is not happy although towards the end of the rpm range - 6000rpm + it seemed very reluctant...

if it is jerking from 2500 to 3800rpm, I would say that is when the load or boost is at its strongest, just after the initial spool up

I would hazrd a guess that the turbo intake pipe is collapsing. The only way to see this might be on a RR and getting the tuner i.e. Awesome in this case to have a look and see if it does this

common problem on the Leons with the pipe collapsing. Once it gets quite old it becomes weaker and as you are mapped, this will almost certianly show up this issue with the extra pressue being put onto this pipe

I know it's becoming a money pit, but get Awesome to check this first, and if it is, then you will need something like the Forge TIP, which is about £120

but thats a cheap price to pay in order to resolve your issue mate

if that is the problem, then I can't imagine the issue to be the coils now. although certianly replacing them will smooth out any jerkyness anyway like it did with mine

let us know how you get on at Awesome on Wed

I did wonder about the TIP - as they were on a weakness on my old car ... I dont mind coughing up £120 as long as it FIXES the car :D

Trouble is awesome will want about £100 + VAT to put it on the rolling road + diagnosis charge + cost of the TIP if it needs it = lots of money :doh:

From the coil figures you can see I'm not getting any misfires mate...

If you have tried everything and are now at a loss, maybe a new TIP is on the cards anyway ;)

Well the only things I havent tried thinking about it are:

- N249 modification?
- Coil Packs
- Uprated TIP

But like said earlier I dont want to throw money at it just guessing at the problems... and I'm not keen on modifying it for the sake of it - the car is fast enough with the remap and for excitement I use the crotch rocket... ;)
