Must try harder:
mpg.jpg

There's summat wrong with your trip mate. The Ecomotive only gets 88 average out of town! You must've been free wheeling down a 100 mile hill to get that!

Hi, would love to get that sort of mpg... am running an 07 2.0 tdi DSG, and have not managed to get it above 45, (even on a run) when the combined is 49 and extra urban in the 50s. Have tried running it at 70, 60 and it did better one day when i gave up and plonked it at 80. My tyres are at the right pressure, its been run on shell, not supermarket diesel, just had its first service (done 10k in it) PLEASE can someone give me a hint what I'm doing wrong.

hmmm I will have a go at that again since she's newly serviced. Just to be a thickett what is the PD and non-PD malarky?

Also, just to join in used to get 57 mpg (not driving gently, on run from rotherham to skeggy) in the old R reg Ibiza 1.9TDi (90bhp) and 45 mpg everyday in the hour-long 10 mile crawl to work. I miss that mpg!!!! I miss that car too :( but had to get DSG as sometimes my legs are a bit wobbly lol.

the old 90 in the mk2s were always great for economy due to good torque and light weight meant it was never stressed.

PD means Pumpe Deuse, german for unit injector, its the type of high pressure injection system in the newer generation VAG diesels (although they have changed to common rail now) it used one in injector per cylinder. Non PD engines, so the 90 and 110 versions used a rotary high pressure injection pump. Theres loads about it in the tdi section.
