well its just coming up 2 years with my TDi FR. Its not been an easy relationship and there isnt a week goes by when I dont think of selling it. However despite the Steering Rack, DPF, Oil leaks and other issues it still puts a smile on my face when I get behind the wheel,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Happy Birthady!!
Coming up to two years myself soon so thought it time to breath new life into her not that the smile and heart rate raise don't still happen so Bluefin should be hear next week :)
Had a few initial problems with steering wheel controls and air flow sensor in the DPF replaced but on the whole she's been pretty well behaved sorry to hear you've not had such a good run but at least she still makes you happy, gotta say something ;)

almost three years here, many happy miles of motoring, very little problems considering what ive done to it :)

Great car all round really. Nice pics!

Nice pics.

The car looks awesome in black :D

Where abouts are you based?

I am having a meet on this saturday hopefully if you can make it to warminster :)

My FR is nearly 2 as well. Im in the same boat as you mate, I have issues with my DPF, headlamps steaming up, coolant leak, lacquer peeling off FR alloy wheel and every week I too think about selling up. But like you say, everytime I get behind the wheel I just get this massive :D.

Just coming up to 2 years with a TDI sport. No DPF issues, of course but just developing rear end whine as the tyres wear (I presume) at 18000 miles. No obvious inside edge wear as I can tell though. I had the rear bearings checked at MOT time and they were OK. It's a tyre wear issue I was told. I'm still a little concerned about what to replace them with, though the concencus seems to be Goodyear. I'm on Dunlops as original fit with still some tread left. I read a blogg somewhere (which I can't now find) that said Seat were fitting Continental Sport Contact 3's as standard as the harder inside edge was suited for the rear camber set up. Anyone else seen this?
Otherwise the car is great fun, I'm still a fan and long may Seat prosper if VAG don't pull the plug.

Love the arty pics of your Black FR. I nearly bought a petrol FR, although the deal I did meant I could afford the Cupra.

My Cupra was 2 years old on Saturday. I've enjoyed nearly 15 months of trouble free motoring and hopefully no major issues will arise. I only do around 7k miles a year so the car is mainly used to get to work and back.

There have been some minor niggles though.

The nearside folding mirror wasn't retracting correctly a few months ago, although it sorted itself out and has been fine ever since. I also had a very annoying boomy exhaust which was changed for a Milltek Cat-Back.

Nice pics mate, I part exed mine about 4 weeks ago when it was 2 and a half years old, I have to say I do miss it but don't miss the amount of time it spent in the garage with DPF issues etc. [:@]

Ricky mention your mirror at the next service, mine was doing that occasionally and they replaced both under warranty :D

Cheers Foxy, I will keep a close eye on it as I only have 1 years warranty left.

How's life with the 3 series??? Is it a 320d M Sport or 330d M Sport???.

I used to have a E46 330d SE and the engine was great, although as an overall car it was a bit boring. The steering was in a different league to the Leon due to the wheels being driven at the rear.

I did consider an E60 when looking at the Cupra, although for the same money it would have been a 318i or 320i petrol.

Enjoy.....

thanks for the comments, I am going to keep the car a little longer and Bluefin starts to sound more attractive or a set of Toyo R888s maybe.....
Thanks for the comments about the pics this is another sideline of mine, if you want to see more go to my FlickR

Its a 320d M Sport, its great to be honest but a completely different drive to the Leon, less frantic and smoother, has a smoother more petrol like power delivery, problem is the torque band isn't as good and at motorway speeds it can take a second to get into the power band! The rwd has caught me out a couple of times too until the traction control reins it all in.

I do miss my Leon though it feels like a more exclusive club with the odd nod and wink. I raced a Leon FR550 the other day and at the next set of lights gave him a thumbs up and a big grin. I think he just thought I was mental!!!!! :bounce:

I'm trying to get the missus to trade her Beetle in for a K1!

I got bluefin on Thursday :D Wasn't to sure at first, could definitely feel the torque and it felt more assertive and firm. A little hard to describe really. It's not quite as violent when the turbo kicks in but it drags earlier and will race right through and keep pulling into the red. It reminds me of my S3 days being able to if you feel like it give it a really good blast. After 24hours with it on I started to really notice quite how quick it now it is as they are not exactly slow to start with. I times 50-100 in 4th before and got around 13.5 seconds, tried it yesterday with bluefin on and go 10.67!! Big difference you can see 3 seconds. All in it was easy, plug it in, download your map it tells you what to do, plug it into laptop install software connect to servers and within a minute I had a text saying it was done. Download the new map plug it into the car and thats it. You can immobilize the car and put your old map back on takes about 10 minutes. Mention SCN get 10% at superchips but if you goto http://www.rickyracing.co.uk You can get it even cheaper and they now keep stock. It's a little more scrappy with the torque but in a good way, if you put your foot down expect to play and it seems to have gotten better I think the program adjusts over time  Anyways if you have the cash buy it I doubt very much you will send it back which you can if your not happy.
Ok waffled enough sorry got on my soap box

What was the result of the race against the 550?

You clearly still love the car to have it looking like that - or maybe you just love photography - I'm guessing both.

Nice car - nice photos :)

What was the result of the race against the 550?

I just did him but not by much! He had me away from the lights it was only cos I could hold the revs a bit longer that I pulled away, 0-60 of 7.9 compared to 8.3 there was never going to be a lot in it! I have to say his car looked mint too! :D
