I was looking at my car the other day, and couldn't help but think the exhausts look rubbish. They are a good distance under the cut outs, and are also a reasonable distance into the bumper. Is this normal? To me, it looks amateur. There is almost no need for the cut outs at all!

I saw someone's TDi on here who'd had an aftermarket system fitted which had larger diameters but was moved out to be in line with the bumper, and up so it actually fits into the cut out. Looked ace!

You talking about me?? :D
Here you go:

The exhaust tail pipes are 100mm in diameter and have a rolled inward lip but any good exhaust place will be able to offer you a a choice of tips.

Stunning! As they should be in my opinion.

Make mine look like i've superglued my exhausts on!

Should mine look like the way they do?

Here's a pic:

That looks about right. Mines was the same too:

I got the idea for mine from the Milltek one (not sure how far that one sticks out though as I asked the Exhaust guy to move the tips out a bit to be in line with the bumper...less soot on the tailgate too :D)

The sideskirts are the wrong way round but its a different look!
Alex

Yeah I noticed my skirts were on the other way round to everyone else's a few weeks ago. Strange. Especially when you consider mine was a dealer promo vehicle covoered from top to bottom in BTCC graphics! I actually prefer it my way anyway, so all good :)

Yours are spot on Alex. I wonder if somewhere could remake my back box, or how much a new back box would be. It really does bug me!!!

Alex - could i ask, you know your rear bumper, there's the center bit where its black.. did you do this your self?

was it paint or vinyl?

just because i was thinking of doing this myself by doing it with a black vinyl But after some research i've been told that the glue would eat into the lacque and cause future problems..

so the only way i could think would be by painting it...

The bumper came like that. The Aero kits should have that bit with the bumper.
Alex

Hmm that is strange. I always thought that they were black for that faux diffuser look, oh well guess mine was just painted black or just has the primer on it?
Alex

I quite like it black, a lot of modern hot hatches have the "faux diffuser" look don't they. I'm thinking Focus, Golf and also Mazda 3 if I remember rightly.

OK, we need more pictures to see how they differ on real cars!

my apologies to revive a dead thread..... :ban:

Alex, is that black part on your bumper clipped/stuck on, or is it part of the main bumper? Mine is also colour coded and looks pants compared to yours!

Also what exhaust system you got?

Mine is black too. Been Thinking of having it wrapped in carbon vinyl but I wasn't sure how it would deal with the exhaust heat. I've never seen a colour coded one tbh.

Its just part of the bumper. The car came like that so I assumed it was just normal, I think the bumper comes in two pieces anyways and this bit can be colour coded or left black. I prefer it black to be honest as it breaks up the colours.
The exhaust system that I have is a custom made one. A place local to me built up the system for me.
